Buyer beware! $67 for one blind and they don't include the screws necessary to install the blinds!!! MicheleSeriously? I paid $67 per blind and they don't include the screws to attached the brackets to the window? Now I have to make a special trip to the hardware store to buy FOUR screws to install two blinds. This is outrageous and very inconvenient. It's a cheapo decision to not include screws. IKEA just lost me as a customer! I bought these in the past, loved them, and a few years ago, included the screws. These blinds would be 4 stars if they included the screws to put them up! I don't have time to waste to hunt down screws.1
So frustrated with IKEA! Horrible design.MauryWhere to start. The brackets dangle the blackout blinds a good 1 3/4" away from the walls/window frame. It's a huge gap that allows light to blast in. It makes the blackout property worthless. The old Hopvalis brackets were awesome and flush with the window frame, but IKEA decided to change the width of the bracket attachment by 1/16th of an inch making all the old brackets worthless with the new Hopvalis and Tripvalis blinds. In short, if you don't want blinds that hang out into the middle of the room like a construction crane avoid these. I'd return them but IKEA is 3 hours away and they would make me pay for shipping. So frustrated. I buy IKEA because they are consistent. My house is based on these and now I'm just screwed. Grrrrt.1
Horrible KellyI purchased 14 of these. 4 have broken. I’m most upset because the 4 that broke were raised and lowered maybe 3 times in 2 years. Not sure what we will do. It will be expensive to replace but this is ridiculous. We have quite a few items from IKEA. This is by far the most disappointing.1
TRIPPEVALSDianaThey are perfect for blocking out the sun. My only dislike is that they do not come in 98 inches long like the new zebra blinds which I had to return because they don’t block out sun at all. I wish there was an option to get them ordered into the correct length of my window;(2
Missing ScrewsCathleenGood product. There were no screws to attach the top to the window frame. Is that usual?4
Work great until they break DanielI bought these a couple years ago and loved them, very easy to use and made my room nice and dark despite city street lights. However in the past month, two of my four blinds have broken. For one, the internal nylon string seems to have frayed. For the other, the plastic parts of the mechanism broke and the spring sprang loose. I assume my remaining two blinds will be going the same way soon.
For this price I thought I was investing in a product that would last longer. I don’t want to buy again, which is unfortunate since I already have the hanging plates installed.1
Bad "Plastic" SystemPatriciaIt has bad quality of PLASTIC hook holding the spring that gets easily broken. We have changed it several times waiting our money. No buying anymore.1
Does not extend to the full lengthElizabethI purchased the 36 x 76 3/4 blinds and the blinds do not extend the last 8 inches just like one of the reviewers stated. IKEA needs to measure this specific blind and do a recall and manufacture blinds that extends to the full length as advertised. 2
Darkening shadesJudyThese shades are a great price and purchase for apartment windows. Got the darkening shade and it works great to keep out the morning sun.5
They will fail in an yearYogeshNot worth the money. 2 out of 5 i bought failed after an year. They are stuck at partially open position and do not stay closed or fully open. 1
Blinds do not fully extendAlexI bought 36x76 and they do not fully extend to the declared length. They leave about 8 inches. I replaced them for the same and the result is the same. I have other widths of the same blinds and they are fine. 36 x 76 don't work properly.1
Favorite blindsVanessaThis is our second time purchasing these blinds. We are renters and the first purchase was at a place with no window coverings and now our current place had the ugly and very dirty vertical blinds. Replacing those with these makes our place more like our own home. They block light and insulate and have a very nice streamlined IKEA look which we love!5
Great value, easy installJolantaI bought two of these blinds and they really do darken the room. Great for the bedrooms or for rooms where the sun shines bright. Great price and very easy to install. It is a little easier with two people so one person can hold the bracket and the other can drill in the screw. A power drill installs this blind in seconds! I love the clean look, easy to pull down and push back up. And the little tab prevents your fingers from dirtying the blind. I have a lot of windows and just bought 11 more of both the black out and non black out blinds. This blind looks good inside and looking at the house from the outside.5
Broken in a yearAnonymous reviewerI bought these in March 2023, the polyester string that holds the mechanism is fraying, so it no longer goes up properly. I bought these before for my son's room six years ago and those have been great. The new ones clearly aren't made as well. Very disappointing. 1
Replace broken IKEA blindsFayeBought three sets for my bedroom. Two broke after one year. The cord snapped a the the spring broke the tension mechanism. I bought these sets to replace the two broken. 😠 1
not durableHeidiI have been buying these blinds for about 7 years. They last about 2-4 years before the plastic attachment for the spring breaks. It is really too bad that Ikea can't redesign them to last longer because the blind itself is good and could last way longer if the spring mechanism did not fail. Seems like a simple fix. For over $60 a blind, I am not sure I will keep buying them at this point.... 1
Plastic and spring broke less than a yearFayeBought these blinds for multiple rooms in my house. 2 sets have broken in less than a year and the springs popped out. For the price, they should last.2
Will not last .. Plastic clip WILL breakSDONT BUY !! Look at 1 star reviews - they all say the same thing. Bad design choice by IKEA to use plastic clips to hold the tension spring. 1
Do not buy these Trippevals ErickaI purchased these blinds a couple of years ago like others in this review and in the middle of the night the plastic clips that hold the metal spring broke on both ends. I was told because I was out of the return window time frame that I could not return them but I could purchase a new one. IKEA knows the plastic clips in these blinds are faulty but won't change them now I have to spend more money to replace the two blinds from another company. I can imagine if my window would have broken then I would incur that cost also. For over $80 a blind I expected to get at least 10 to 15 good years of use. Do better IKEA and do a recall and replace the plastic clips inside with metal ones.1
Love them! Best blindsKristaSuper easy to install and use. Great quality versus others I have tried. I put them in all the windows in our entire house. I do wish there were more size options but we made it work. Great!5
