Are these actually sponges?ChristyThese sponges absorb hardly any water! Is the middle part made of anything absorbent? These sponges do not actually sponge up much moisture, to the point I have to wipe the countertops and then find a clean dish towel to wipe them dry, even after waiting a few minutes. My Euro-style cellulose sponges absorb much better, but those lack the rough scrubby side for cleaning dishes.
On the positive side these do have the rougher but non-scratching scrubby side. Unfortunately I can already see the rough fabric wearing out, and I’ve only used these a few times. The price is quite low, though, so it will not hurt to try them for yourself. I am just disappointed they don’t absorb enough to become my new best sponge.
In the comments people say there was a change, so maybe the 5 star reviews are for a previous version? Mine are the green/gray color; purchased in Feb. 2026.

new sponge sucksFloraThis new sponge (new color) is terrible. Very stiff and awkward to use. I used the previous version of this sponge (grey and white) and it was fantastic. Did IKEA hire a designer who never wash dishes to design this sponge? Bring back the old version please.
Quality has deteriorated since the sponge colour changed to green/blueRobinI used to swear by these sponges! I lived in a town that didn't have ikea and whenever I'd go to the nearest big city I would stock up for a whole year because I refused to use any other sponge. I particularly liked that they wouldn't hold any funky smell like many other sponges. HOWEVER, ever since the sponge colour went from white to green, the quality has deteriorated so badly it's shocking! I'm assuming the manufacturer has changed (hence the colour change?) and because of that the quality isn't holding up like before. The sponge falls apart in a matter of weeks! The thin top pad peels off within a few days and the scrub pad will peel off in about 2 weeks. I've managed to stretch the maximum use of this sponge to 4 weeks, with the scrub pad LITERALLY hanging on by a thread. This never used to happen. I could comfortably use the old sponges for over 2 months (after which they'd still be useful but probably just due for a change for hygiene reasons). Really disappointed!
