All IKEA coffee beans are Rainforest Alliance Certified. “We have chosen to work with the Rainforest Alliance certification because it aligns with the IKEA Code of Conduct, IWAY,” says Henrik Ringdahl, an IKEA product developer who helped create the PÅTÅR coffees. "It takes good care of not only the coffee, but also the growers and workers,” he explains. The Rainforest Alliance works with farmers to improve growing methods. This helps to lower costs and increase crop quality and yields. Workers earn a living wage and farmers increase their income.

But the Rainforest Alliance certification is just the beginning. “We also want our beans to be grown in a way that results in healthier soil, less impact on the climate and better livelihoods for coffee farmers,” says Sharla Halvorson, Health & Sustainability Manager at IKEA Food.
