Great easel, but will fold faster than a lawn chair in a tornadoVasudhaThe easel looks adorable and the two-sided design (whiteboard and chalkboard) is genuinely useful when it is upright. Unfortunately, it is about as sturdy as a folding napkin. My toddler can collapse the entire A-frame with one enthusiastic poke. The sides are held together by a plastic cover, but it does not actually keep the frame in place. It is still usable for quick doodles, but if you have a toddler with even moderate strength or opinions, be prepared to stand guard.

I took off one star because it's pretty easy to bump into the red tray or side supports and knock them off. I wish there was a way to just screw them in. It would also be nice if the paper fed through the bottom of the easel and could be re-rolled and the backside could be reused.

Suggestion for easel.JohannaThe one problem is the curling paper at the bottom and no way to neatly rip off a drawing. I suggest that you add a plastic strip (Shape like a ruler) that clips on to the sides and can slide up and down. When dow it holds the paper flat, when up you can tear the paper along the lower edge. Sell it with the easel and as an add on for those of us who have the easel already.
Careless packaging = potential damageDavidThe easel was mindlessly thrown into a box with the other items in the order, resulting in tears to the packaging material and loose parts within the package. I suspect it is damaged and anticipate returning after Christmas because of the damage. Would not recommend mail order on this product.

So, we rolled up our sleeves and tweaked several important details. After that, we asked some parents what they thought of the prototype. Their input helped us make the easel even smarter.
“Through the years, we’ve got some comments on the easel. For example, that the paper roll was difficult to roll up, and that it was complicated to fold up and store away the easel.” tells Jorge Omar Santoyo Henaine, who works with product development at Children’s IKEA.

But they thought it should be on both sides so two children can draw and paint at the same time. And one parent said: “My child spills and makes a mess, I want to be able to rinse the tray in the sink.” “It convinced us that it’s better if you can remove the trays. We want to make life more simple and more creative for both the children and their parents, and to succeed it’s crucial to involve them like we did that day in the store.”
