Product details

Suitable for rooftop windows, tilt windows and turn windows.

The blind can be cut and re-cut to fit a smaller window. Ensure that you do not exceed maximum cut length.

Drill-free mounting using the 4 included brackets with adhesive tape. The adhesive has been tested and approved for smooth glass surfaces.

The blind is cordless for increased child safety.

The assembly instructions include a table with numbers corresponding to those on the fabric and rails to facilitate precise measuring and cutting.

A series of holes ensure you cut with precision and also create a pleasant pattern when light filters through the holes.

Easy to maneuver using either of the plastic handles at the top or bottom.

The fabric dims daylight entering the room and reduces glare. It gives a comfortable sense of privacy as people cannot see in. At night, silhouettes can be perceived from outside when the room is lit.

Good to know

Highly recommended to attach to surfaces made of glass.

For window frames or surfaces not recommended for the adhesive, mount the brackets with screws using a drill or screwdriver. The brackets are prepared with small holes for this purpose.

To reposition or reuse on another window, remove adhesive-mounted brackets with plastic hand scraper. Replace with new brackets available cost-free at IKEA stores or contact IKEA Customer Services for help.

For door windows or windows taller than 51⅛", mount 2 pleated blinds to cover the whole surface.

The top rail of the 34" wide blind can be cut max. 11.8".

If you need to adapt the dimensions of the pleated blind to your window, cut the top/bottom rails and the rods with a metal saw. Cut the fabric with a safety knife.

The included tool makes it easier to get straight, accurate lines when adapting the size of your rail/rod/fabric. It also protects your fingers.

For a smooth, friction-free glide, apply a few drops of silicone spray lubricant to the lock mechanism in the brackets. Ensure the spray is suitable for plastic and metal.

Can also be used in bathrooms.

The outside looks weirdAnonymous reviewerThe inside looks like it shows on the website, which is nice. The outside shows the back of the blind which has weird tabs with perforations along the length of each pleat of the blind. This is how it stays in line - the rods go through the perforations, but they look strange and cause strange shadows to show on the inside as well. We are returning them and have to find something else for our windows. If the perforations were only on the sides it would be better. I guess I could cut the perforations off, but that's a lot of cutting and it has to be very precise to hold the blind together while removing the tabs on the back. I'm rarely disappointed with IKEA products, but this one missed the mark. 1
Trimming was not going to work for me.JessicaLike another review said, I spent a lot of time and went through multiple blades trying to trim down the metal parts of the this shade before giving up. Maybe Swedish hacksaws are different but after struggling to saw through two solid metal rods so the shade was short enough to mount I realized I would have to saw through more metal to make it narrow enough, and that was just for ONE window. So I'll be taking back the three others that I didn't open and tossing the one I couldn't make work. Too bad. I've never had so much trouble with an IKEA thing. 1
Fine if you don't have to trim the width.LillianThis blind is great looking and a terrific value, unless you need to make in narrower. The desctiption says you can trim it with a hacksaw (which I've done with other IKEA window hardware). Two metal hacksaw blades and four Dremmel cut-off wheels later, I had mangled frame ends that were usable, but ugly. Trimming the fabric was a whole other circus. Easy to trim (they give you a little miter box to use) but the instructions didn't make clear to overlap the trim ends, so now I have a useless blind that took the better part of two hours to customize. There is no option online to order just replacement fabric, so I'll have to do the whole thing over again. At least I'll be prepared for the misery of cutting the metal frames. (For the record, I'm REALLY good at following IKEA instructions. I've been doing it for decades. I can read pictorial instructions like a pro. These instructions are awful (but could be made clear with a simple blow-out diagram of the shade with parts labeled).2
Perfect Window Shade for ApartmentsMichaelWonderful product and very easy to install and use for more temporary applications like ADU and apartment living.5
Easy to install, work greatRyanThese up/down shades work great and weren't difficult to install. Cutting the guide rods was the most challenging part. I wish they were offered in wider widths though. 4

Function solution

The fabric dims the daylight

The fabric dims the daylight entering the room when it is brighter outside, and reduces glare. It gives you a comfortable sense of privacy because people cannot see in during the daytime. At night, when the room is lit, it is possible to perceive shapes and silhouettes from outside.
