The spring mechanism is very weak when you try to retract/pull up the blinds and it fails over timeAlbertI fitted my whole house with HOPPVALS and the TRIPPEVALS blackout blinds. In my experience with these over the past three years, every single one of the HOPPVALS blinds barely wants to go back up because the spring is just so weak. It is a fight to try to get them to go all the way up and in fact none of them go all the way up to the top anymore. They go a little bit, maybe halfway, a little bit more. The TRIPPEVALS blackout blinds actually do have a stronger spring mechanism and work better.
Another pain point I had across all of them was that the handle, which is a little plastic piece, cannot be purchased or obtained in the spare parts. They don't carry it and all of them have failed on all of my blinds going from cold to warm weather. They've just cracked. These are pretty good in a pinch especially if you're in an apartment but I would not suggest them for long-term use. If you're going to buy them I think that the blackout blinds are much better.2

DisappointingJackieI have purchased about 12 of these through the years and they were great. Eventually the springs pop and need to be replaced, but I felt they lasted quite a while for the price and decided to replace the broken ones, rather than have to replace all with something else. The last 3 purchased were terrible. They dont go all the way up, which leaves them down about 16 inches, and they resist being pushed all the way up. Defeats the purpose of having blinds that let light in during the day. The disappointment in this is that I stocked up on some of these so I was ready for when springs popped on the installed ones, and needed replacement. I replaced some with my stockpile and installed them now, only to find out it's past the 6 month return mark, and they cannot be returned- even though they appear to be defective. So I am stuck with 3 blinds that dont work, and will never buy these again. Will need to find new blinds for all 7 windows, as they need to match. Very disappointed.1

Do not buy this POSPavelWhen I moved into my new place, I purchased IKEA Hoppvals blinds for seven windows specifically because their dimensions fit perfectly. However, after drilling holes and installing them, I discovered a major flaw: none of the blinds retract all the way up. They stop about 15 inches from the top. A quick search online confirmed that this is a very common defect with this model. Since I had already drilled into my walls for installation, I decided not to return them, but I will never buy blinds from IKEA again.1

They now retract about 30% of the way, and with a bit of wiggling/giggling, we can get them up about halfway; fully open is now impossible. These will last a little over 1 year WayelWe purchased five of these products. After a year and a few weeks, the springs in each one are beginning to malfunction. Two of the five are now inoperative, and the other three will soon follow. 1

IfffyyySergioso I’ve had 4 of these types of blinds, ranging from 5yrs thru 2 years. Today I had an issue with one of them where the inner spring popped and it flew almost hitting a family member. I reached out thru chat and was told that there are no recalls or safety issues with these blinds and that I could bring it in for repair. Basically I asked if maybe I was doing something wrong but was told that this was maybe a flaw in this blind. Now I am iffy about my other blinds since I have noticed that about halfway up the “sheet” blind tends to fold wrong now, meaning it is not properly working.2
