Reviews

Nice bedDouglasWe liked the design so much that when we decided to go from a double to a queen size bed we picked the same bed. We gave the double to my daughter's college friend and he loves the old one,4
Tons of storage!! SheilaLove this bed frame, but assembly was long and confusing with pictures only and no written details. Took me most of the day to assemble by myself. The drawers are HUGE so I’m loving that. I wanted a matching headboard but they only have the storage type and I wanted just the flat part (no storage) so I wish that would have been an option. 4
Not what I expected SheilaSome parts do not attach properly or loosen up and have to rescrew Makes noise too 1
Bed FrameAnneLove it, drawers are nice and deep.5
King size bedGaborGreat bed! Took me only 4 hours to put it together.5
WONDERFUL!!SusanI’m writing an honest review for this bed I purchased last year in Philadelphia. I did some research before buying I needed something I could use for years to come without replacing my bed. and what I found is to get the best results out of this bed is to buy the highest level of slats for this bed there pricey and a little hard to put together but you can’t go wrong because the results are worth it and my bed is solid no movement or noise. and the storage is wonderful. BUY IT!!5
I love the storagePatriciaI am so happy with these drawers. That is why I bought it and the storage can't be beat.5
Good bed at a good costAmberThe bed looks good the drawers are spacious. The price was good. 4
Poor plastic fastenersRobertFastener number 110630 snaps right off when you tighten it and you can't get it back out. It's one of the main cam lock fasteners that hold the center part of the frame together. I'm a large individual and am concerned about the bed coming apart. I've had ikea beds before, no problem. Not any more.1
BEST king size storage bed!DorrettaI've looked all over and this bed has BY FAR the most storage. It holds all of our blankets, bed spreads and sheets. I highly recommend this bed.5
Great affordable option FabianGreat storage bed frame option at a reasenable price.5
RIP OFF. I have to buy pieces separately??TiffanyWhen I bought this, I was happy because it was on sale at the store and it was cute. Then upon building it, I found out I had to buy bed slats SEPARATELY?? The instructions even had the steps for the slats even though they didn't come with slats. This is my first IKEA bed frame, but I have NEVER had a bed frame where the slats were sold SEPARATELY? What a rip off!1
My daughter loves itSusanMy daughter loves it5
Love itMichellePerfect bed with very large storage drawers underneath. It's not hard to put together at all. 5
Love it but…TaraMy daughter absolutely loves this bed. It’s sturdy and I love the big drawers underneath. But (and I know this is my fault) be aware the wooden slats are not included when you buy this bed. I bought the bed online and had it delivered. I got to the very last step putting it together and thought they forgot to deliver a piece but nope! Had to make a trip to ikea at 7pm just so I could finish putting the bed together. They need to make it more obvious when buying the bed online that you must buy the wooden slats separately! Don’t make the same mistake! Otherwise we absolutely love this frame and have no complaints!4
Very Happy RoxaneIf you put this bed together properly, or have it put together properly, it will be strong, and function perfectly. I am reading reviews about it "shattering" or that it "falls apart", or that the "slats move and cave in." These comments are likely due to improper assembly. I bought the wider slats, that are yellowish (birch) color. They are supposed to be secured in place during assembly per the instructions. I weight 120lbs and my husband weighs 250lbs. This bed holds us and our 15" high heavy mattress without issues. This is a solid well made bed once assembled correctly. Do make sure all of the screws/fasteners on the drawer tracts are very tight or else the drawers might not open and close smoothly. Yes, the bed can be a challenge as is the case for most IKEA furniture. Be patient, take your time, study the instructions, go to the internet and find a video from others who post how they assemble IKEA furniture. 5
Cute but non functional.AshleySo I received this as a baby shower gift, I needed a new bed with storage that didn't take up a ton of floor space but was roomy enough so we settled on this as it was on sale for $300 at the time and a good deal. Well, turns out this is the absolute worst bed frame I've ever used; assembly assistance was also purchased so it's not like it was an assembly error either. We'll start with the frame itself, if you have carpet or a rug the drawers won't open easily and a lot of the time the rug gets caught on the drawers so it lifts, even with rug tape and double sided tape. The slats; the worst part y'all. The heaviest I got while pregnant was 150, not big at all, these slats though even with just me making the bed and laying on it the mattress would cave in because slats are constantly falling down. Customer service all 3 times was of zero help, some of the worst I've experienced. Never again Ikea.1
Love this bedYaninaWent with full. It’s spacious and the drawers work perfectly. Very happy.5
This bed brought me pain instead of pleasureTarilate I have been meaning to provide this feedback but overtaken by life's events. I decided to do this as a way of caution to others. I purchased this bed over a year ago. I saw it first with a friend and the beauty caught my attention, making me purchase it and recommend to 3 other friends. However, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment as I didn't even have the chance to enjoy it before it completely shattered. The bed rest fell clamping my son's hand, and he's still suffering from the effects of that injury. One of the drawers is scattered, refusing to move back in and now a hazard in our home as each of keep bumping into it over and over. I honestly don't know what to do with it and its over a year since I purchased it. The initial allure of its beauty was deceiving and a waste of money in the long run. I saved up for months to get this bed, but it seems like my hard-earned money has gone down the drain. It now constitutes a liability and I regret ever buying it.1
Nice Bed!JoshuaThe Brimnes bed has been great so far. It looks great in the room. The drawers are really spacious, which is good for storing things in a smaller apartment. Assembly took some time, but it was not overly complicated. Overall I’m very happy with the product.5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.
