What can I do if I have received an item that I have not ordered?

If you receive a product that you didn't order, first check to see if it's an extra item or if something is missing from your original order. If items are missing, contact IKEA customer service in-store or online, and a colleague will help you return the wrong items and retrieve the missing ones. If you have received extra items, check the purchase invoice to see if you have been charged and then contact IKEA Customer Service for guidance on how to proceed.

We apologize for this inconvenience and will do our best to assist you. If you have received one or more items that you have not ordered, review everything you have received to see if these items have been delivered to you in addition to what you ordered, or if some items that you did order are also missing.

Additional items received

If you have received your entire order and have also received some additional items along with it, please check your purchase invoice to see if these additional items have been mentioned there. If you've been charged for these additional items, you can return the item and get a refund:
  • Contact IKEA Customer Service online. Type "I want to talk to a human" in the chat or call 1-888-888-4532. A coworker will help you with options for returning the extra item and issuing a refund to your original payment method or a refund card.
  • Visit an IKEA store. You can also visit the Customer Service department (located near the entrance/exit) in your nearest area IKEA Store Along with the extra item and the invoice or purchase receipt, if that is more convenient for you. A partner will help you with the next steps to return the extra items and issue a refund to the original payment method or a refund card.
Incorrect items received
If you've received items you didn't order and you're missing some that you did order, then you have the following options to ask for help with the wrong item:
  • Visit an IKEA store. Visit your nearest customer service department IKEA Store with the purchase invoice/receipt and, if possible, the item delivered in error. A colleague can replace the wrong item you received with the correct one in the store or arrange a home delivery if the item isn't in stock or you can't take it home. They can also explain the options you have regarding the item delivered in error if you have not been able to bring it to the store.
  • Contact IKEA Customer Service online. You can also contact IKEA customer service online, especially if the wrong item is too heavy or if you prefer to have the lost item delivered to your address. Get in touch with an IKEA colleague by either typing "I want to talk to someone" in the chat or calling 1-888-888-4532, and they will be able to arrange a home delivery of your lost items and, if necessary, the collection of the item delivered in error.
After exchanging the wrong item for the correct one, if it turns out that you paid more than you should, you will also be eligible to receive a refund for that differentiated amount. The refund will be paid to the original payment method used during purchase.
