Desk in many sizes

A large desk for a professionally equipped home office or a petite computer desk that can be transformed into a stylish console table after work? When choosing a new desk, the available space is the be-all and end-all - regardless of whether you work in a bedroom that has been converted into a workstation or in your own small office space or even a gaming area. After all, it determines the size of your new work surface. Our desks are 160 to approx. 75 cm wide and are also available as corner desks. How deep your desk or corner desk should be depends on how much you need to work. A desk depth of 70 cm is ideal so that there is room for everything from the screen to the keyboard. If you want a narrow desk just for your laptop, you can get one from IKEA with a depth of approx. 50 cm.

This is how high your desk should be

In addition to the width, the height of the desk is also crucial. How high should it be and how wide? The standard height for a simple desk is 50 to 70 cm. At this height, most people should be able to find an office desk that suits their height. And if you have a height-adjustable BEKANT desk, we have these simple tips for the perfect height:

• When you're sitting, the desk should reach your elbow. If you can rest your forearms comfortably on the desk top at a 90-degree angle, the height is ideal.
• The distance between your knees and the underside of the desk should be around 35 to 40 cm.
• Take turns sitting on the desk and dining table to measure the height and get a feel for the best height.

Always consider your height when choosing the height. The ideal sitting position and height of the desk can affect this. And the more ergonomically you sit, the better you can work in a fresh and relaxed manner.

Tip: To stay fit between long work sessions, keep getting up and moving around the room. Try working standing up too. Some of our BEKANT standing desks can be adjusted up to 125 cm in height.
