Armchairs & chaise lounges

An elegant invitation to curl up and relax

An armchair or a chaise longue is an appeal to sit down and put your cares aside. Whether you are reading a book or binge-watching TV shows, your armchair is the best place to do it. A pair of rattan armchairs on a stair landing invites you to sit down and enjoy a few moments of peace. A recliner in the living room easily converts into the ideal place for an afternoon nap.

    Armchairs are a classic favourite

An armchair is so much more than seating. It is the perfect finishing touch to your living room. It draws the eye and balances the room. An armchair takes the weight off your neck and arms. Pair an armchair with a matching footstool so that you can put your feet up. Footstools and pouffes also serve as extra seating or a landing place for a tea tray when you have guests.  Choose a footstool with storage to tuck away your favourite books or a blanket.

Lay back and take a break

If you do not have the space for an armchair, a recliner is a compact solution. It takes up as much space as a small sofa but gives you a place to lean back when you need it. You can lie down and take a nap on a recliner pushed all the way back. A sofa with a chaise lounge section gives you the best of both in one compact piece. Style it with a soft cushion and a cosy afghan to use when you nap.

    Choosing the right accent chair

Armchairs, accent chairs and recliners do not have to be an exact match to your sofa set. They are meant to stand out. You can choose a colour that blends with the rest of your furniture. Or pick an accent colour or print that makes the chair a focal point in the room. You can also choose a material or texture that contrasts with the other upholstery in the room. Removable covers are easy to launder and keep clean. You can also switch the colour of your seating easily by changing the covers. The seat height of your chairs and sofa should be within 4 inches of each other.

Multifunctional pieces make the most of your space

If space is a concern, choose an ottoman or pouffe that is multifunctional. Lounge chairs are a lightweight and easy to move alternative to the traditional armchair. They add a pop of colour and portable seating in your home. A chair bed is a space saver that will come in handy when you have an overnight guest. Instead of the sofa, offer guests a bed that they can stretch out on in comfort. Pick from our chair beds that can be integrated with sofa modules. Pair the sofa bed module with a matching sofa with storage to tuck away extra pillows and bedding.

    Chaise longue sofas

A chaise longue is the best seat in the house for movie night. Pick a chaise longue with storage to keep your pillows and quilts out of sight. Chaise longues are also convenient for an afternoon nap. You can use a chaise longue in a corner or as a room divider in an open plan home. It is also one of the best pieces of furniture for seating next to a large window with a view. It allows you seating without blocking the view from the rest of the room.
