Reviews

Poor design IkeaVerified ReviewerThe frame is an inch proud of the hanger making it super difficult!! There's whole discussion groups about it!!2
Neat and stylish!Verified ReviewerPerfect for neat and stylish photos.5
Nice feature for my homeVerified ReviewerNice feature for my home4
Super cookersVerified ReviewerBought a hob and oven and they're wonderful5
DO NOT BUY!!Verified ReviewerDo not make the same mistake I did with these frames. I bought 5 frames (nearly £100 worth) and all have expanded in shape within a few months, I've never seen anything like it! Also as stated by others, the back of this frame is completely inappropriate for it's purpose. The hooks sit too deep back to make wall hanging easy. It is possible but you need to make adjustments which is an absolute waste of time. Either buy cheaper (at least the quality will match up) or spend more money and buy your frame elsewhere.1
RIBBA Picture FrameVerified ReviewerThe quality is as to be expected for the price but I am more than happy for the price I paid - it does the job.4

PICTURE FRAMEVerified ReviewerGOOD QUALITY FOR THE PRICE5
Manufacturing DefectVerified ReviewerI was disappointed to receive a damaged frame in my latest delivery. One of the corners has a very obvious manufacturing defect. I use these frames for mounting artwork for customers, so obviously can’t use this one!1
Ribba Frame difficult to hang for displayingVerified ReviewerReally loved the frame my black and white 1925 photo of my grandparents wedding looks so lovely in the mount and frame but oh boy how on earth are you meant to hang it, the 2 hanging mounts are unreachable as they are deep inside the frame at the back and unless you hammer in a 6 “ nail to reach these you can’t hang it Ikea you really need to think about the design I had to buy picture hooks, screw eyes and wire and screw them onto the frame it looks good but quite frustrating it should be pointed out when buying the hanging mounts are place deep inside the frame or at least the type of hooks Ikea recommends for this type5
Always rely on IKEA forVerified ReviewerAlways rely on IKEA for frames5
Just what I wanted!Verified ReviewerJust what I wanted!5
Warp over timeVerified ReviewerI have had these frames hanging on my kitchen wall for 3-4 years - initially great but other the past year have become really warped. The joins at each corner come away and the frame is no good for purpose. Really disappointing when we are trying to stop wasting natural resources, these need to be made to last please Ikea!!1
I love this frameVerified ReviewerI love this frame5
These are so practical.Verified ReviewerI love these ribba frames and have bought them in several sizes. Easy to fit photos in and are attractive on my wall no matter what size picture or photo. Good quality and well made.5
Lovely picture frameVerified ReviewerLooks expensive5
Flimsy & Warp Over TimeVerified ReviewerA year on and our 4 frames have warped to the extent that the picture could fall through the front. Had to remove and hot glue all the internal frame sides to the hardboard backing. This helped pull the frames back parallel and square. Very flimsy and poor quality MDF. Mounting is not simple either. A 50mm screw is needed which is raw plugged into the wall for strength. Leave 25mm of screw head sticking out for hooking onto the frame clip. I won't be buying these again as the quality is simply not good enough for long term use.1
Could have been a 5*, but.......Verified ReviewerThis is a good frame, I am pleased with it, however once I had my photo inserted and ready to hang on the wall, I found I couldn't hang it on the wall because the hook on the frame is placed too far back from the back end of the frame. I had to search on YouTube and found a video of someone who experienced the same problem, and provided a workaround which I implemented and then managed to get hung on the wall. It looks nice on the wall, it is good value at the price. However I am only giving this item a 3 * because of the immediate problem with not being able to hang it on the wall. A terrible design flaw that needs addressed, such an idiotic place to put the hook. If the hook was placed in a more appropriate place on the frame, I would have given this item 5*. Seriously Ikea, what are you thinking !!!3

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
