Looks really good - drawers don’t pull out enoughAnonymous reviewerThe chest of drawers is great - just what i needed and looks really smart. Though it’s contemporary styling, it looks great with other furniture as it is smart and understated (I like the fact it’s got a sheen not shiny).
One very big negative and was tempted to keep it to only two stars. The drawers only pull out 2/3 of the way. This means that 15cm at the back of all drawers is inaccessible, really awkward to get to. Such a waste of space and already driving me nuts. I wanted shallow drawers, but this makes it even worse to get to the back of the drawer. Come on Ikea, this is not your usual standard of design.

Low quality drawers railsAnonymous reviewerUnfortunately, the drawer system is not performing as expected. The runners feel excessively stiff and do not operate smoothly, making it difficult to open and close the drawers. This significantly affects the usability of the unit and does not reflect the quality I would expect from IKEA.
I have carefully assembled the product following the instructions provided, and I have checked the alignment and fittings to ensure everything is installed correctly. Despite this, the issue persists.
Given that this is a new product £70 not cheap, I would expect the drawers to operate smoothly and effortlessly. At present, they feel tight, inconsistent, and not fit for proper daily use.

Damage to one side of these drawersAnonymous reviewerWe bought two of these in the Exeter store on Thursday and after clearing my sewing room and repainting, hubby is putting together the Lagkapten/alex drawers and table top. Unfortunately one of the sides of the Alex drawers is damaged. I’m finding it difficult to get through to the store and we are not prepared to drive all the way back to Exeter. Fortunately we can hide this damage by positioning it against another wall, but the frustration!

Top budget draws in my opinionAnonymous reviewerQuite good. They are made of chipboard and have a mix of screws, plastic and wood fittings. The drawer runners are not ball bearing, they are basic metal runners but ok for the price. The chipboard is thick and this makes the whole drawer feel sturdy.
Look out for page 8 of the instructions. If the drawers are being used standalone then use the instruction on the left of the page where the board with the holes is placed on the bottom. If you are adding a desktop to these then follow the instruction on the right of page 8 where the board with the holes goes on the bottom.
Lower Quality Sliding Rails Than BeforeAnonymous reviewerthe sliding rails are much worse than older version of alex drawers, in two ways:
1. the bump to secure a drawer in the “closed” position has become much more prominent and “hard” feeling; it also makes it impossible to open up a drawer with one hand effortlessly (especially hard for units on castors).
2. the rail is generally speaking a lot less smooth than before.
i also went to a few stores to check, any of the newer looking ones have the same worse quality sliding rail that’s both difficult to open and slide around. and the old ones on the side are perfect just like the ones i have at home.
is there any potential solution you could provide? can you send me a set of the older version of the sliding rails (or the two panels that have them)? i will swap the inferior ones out.
i liked the alex drawers for many years, please don’t ruin the product for all of us.
