Great talking pointAnonymous reviewerI bought this ceiling light in the gold and white
a few years ago and it never fails to attract comments from guests. I would love to have one
in black with gold on the inside for my bedroom
if possible.
What a work of artAnonymous reviewerDavid Wahl made a absolute wonder. Easy to assemble and easy to fit. All done in less than 60 mins. No problems at all.
Didn't come with ceiling hookAnonymous reviewerI liked the design at first and in the showroom. when i opened the packaging i realised they didn't include the ceiling hook to hang it. Very disappointing as I paid quite a bit for a light that i now cannot hang myself.
Great looking lighting dreadful fittings Anonymous reviewerReally good looking light let down by awful fitting to connect to the ceiling as in none. Lets down a great looking item
Great fun lampsAnonymous reviewerI didn't find it a problem to make them up and they look great in the lounge/diner with colour changing bulbs.
As other reviewers have said the drawbacks are the lack of a cup hook (which would not be a problem if made clear when purchasing) to hang the lamp, poor instructions and far too much cable, which has gone to landfill. Really wanted a ceiling light to be on the ceiling not the coffee table.
Wire Too longAnonymous reviewerShade itself is lovely. Easy to put shade together (do it before installation as easy to hang). You have to buy a steel clip for it to hang off. Wire is was too long & you either gave to cut it or place in round plastic ceiling rose that comes with it.
Terrible design to fitAnonymous reviewerThe fitting itself looks nice but it’s basically impossible to fix so as it’s sits flush with the ceiling, terrible design. Would have been so much better with a small bracket to fix with but the design is awful. Avoid, it’s a waste of money
Do not buy!Anonymous reviewerThis is such a waste of money. Everything single piece is made of flimsy plastic. The amount of modifications you have to do with the wire and trying to make it sit flush with the ceiling is unbearable! For £75 you do not get ALL the components needed to fit the light. You have to become an electrician which started to get dangerous at one stage. Stay away from this product!
Ceiling lightAnonymous reviewerLooks great and easy to assemble. Fixing to the ceiling and getting the cable cover flush against the ceiling without it dangling was awful. It needs much better instructions as we had to go onto you tube to find out how to do it properly
Absolutely shocking Anonymous reviewerThis product is complete garbage. Every thing about it is designed to be as cheap as possible, and what results is a product that is absolutely useless. First, instead of using normal light fixtures, it is held to the crawling with a cup hook. Then, the connectors that should hold the wires in place wouldn’t lock, meaning I have to wire it in properly myself. But I’d have had to do that myself anyway as there was so much excess wire that I couldn’t have fitted it without cutting the wire anyway. But finally, after assembling the whole thing, the first time I operated it, one of the pieces broke off. I fixed it and it broke off again. Part of the internal mechanism is out of alignment, on account of the poor quality of the materials, so it will break every time it is used. And will scratch the paint off as well.
Lovely lights but incompleteAnonymous reviewerBought two of these lights for home and got an electrician to fit them.Apart from having to build them with about 40 pieces they needed to be attached to ceiling with a hook which WASNT included in the package which resulted in having to leave the job until we could get to a shop to buy the hooks and then had to get electrician back out to refit so had to pay him twice!very disappointed as usually products we have bought are great
Good looking lampAnonymous reviewerGood, fancy looking lamp in my son's room. In the shops looks much more brighter (maybe I should put stronger bulb). Easy to install, quite expensive but in that appearance worth it. Hopefully will be easy to cleaning.
SparesAnonymous reviewerMy son loves this light, can you get spare parts for these
Excellent product Open or closedAnonymous reviewerExcellent product
Open or closed provides different look
Terrible ProductAnonymous reviewerTook a long time and many modifications to the wires to get it to stay flush to the ceiling and despite trying 3 different types and powers of bulbs the shade completely prevents it from lighting my whole bedroom.
Fabulous lightAnonymous reviewerI lo e this link ght. Looks amazing in my hallway!
IKEA PS 2014 - Flush Pendant failAnonymous reviewerNice looking shade, terrible pendant design. Had to chop the main cable as the weight of the light pulls it through the in built stopper. Despite this, pendant does not fit flush to ceiling.
Nice light. Terrible instructions to instalAnonymous reviewerBeautiful light once it’s up. We have purchased quite a few items recently and noticed that the instructions are extremely limited on everything. This goes for this light. Definitely need more explanation of installation and also specify that it takes 2 people to put up as you need more than 2 hands to hold, hook, pull cord and screw. Also nowhere at all does it tell you that you need a light hook. We had to go back to ikea again to purchase one. It only cost 50p so why not put in the box? If you tell us on the box that we need a bulb (which is obvious) then why not tell us on the box that we need a light hook in order to install (which is definitely NOT obvious) this was our third light purchased. The first one wouldn’t hold the Live wire in the connector, the second light connected but didn’t work. I was all for purchasing a completely different light but gave one last chance and this one worked.
So easyAnonymous reviewerOMG have read the 1 star reviews and well i really don't know what to say. They must be doing something incredibly wrong to have got to a stage to write an essay on how it didn't work for them. My personal experience. Bought item, took home. Made a cuppa, then put the main shade together in 10 mins. Was very easy and simple. 2nd yes needed a hook but hey i had a hook and the existing light i was replacing was on a beam anyway. Oh and for those out there struggling with the long cord, heres a tip. Use wire cutters and cut to the length that suits you. I had it wired up in 20 mins (cutting the cable and stripping the ends ready) once i was happy i attached the shade on and hey presto in half an hour i had it up fitted and fully working. By the time the moaners gave up and started their pointless rants i was already getting the bulb set up on my Alexa. This light is 10/10 the best death star looking shade out there and for the 35 cm at £55 a very good bargain.
Complex to assemble, looks great when it's upAnonymous reviewerThis was probably the most difficult thing from IKEA I have ever got.
Firstly, it doesn't fit a standard ceiling rose, so you need an extra hook.
Secondly, it has a metre and a half of flex - far too long and virtually impossible to shorten. I still can't get the dome against the ceiling with the amount of flex in it.
Finally everything was so tied together that I had to spend ages picking the cords apart to get it to move.
The actual assembly of the light itself was fine, once I realised there was only one way round the pieces could go.
Once it is up, it looks amazing though.
