What information will be communicated about my delivery?

We will try to keep you in the loop for all of your deliveries, whether orders are placed in-store or online.

At IKEA, we want to keep you in the loop as much as possible, which is why we use a range of delivery communications to keep you informed, depending on how you made your purchase. 

Orders placed in-store

For deliveries booked in-store at the home delivery desk, you will receive a text message* the day before your delivery date with a live tracking link for your order. On the day of delivery, you will either receive a further text message or a pre-delivery phone call when the driver is approximately one hour away. Please ensure you are available in case the delivery team call you before they arrive.
* If you provided a valid mobile number during booking.

Orders placed online

You will first receive confirmation of your order placement. Please check your order confirmation email to confirm the type of delivery you are having. Sometimes orders have to be split, this means you will receive two separate deliveries.
For smaller deliveries (including Express Parcel): The day before your delivery date, you will receive a text message (or email if you did not provide a mobile number) from DPD. This will give you some options to communicate to DPD if you will not be home on the planned delivery date, and allow you to request deliver to a neighbour or your local Post Office for collection.

Please be aware if you are an existing DPD customer and have previously set up an alternative delivery instruction this may be used in the event that you are not available to receive your delivery.

On the morning of your delivery date, you will receive a tracking number and be provided with a one-hour timeslot.
For larger deliveries (including Express Truck): If you provided a valid mobile number during checkout, you will receive the following text messages:
  • 24 hours prior to your delivery, we will text you with your AM or PM, 4-hour time slot.
  • On the day we will text you with your personal tracking link, or you can track your order through the Track and manage my order tool.
  • Approximately 1 hour before your delivery arrives, you will receive a text message or a pre-call to advise we are almost with you. Please make sure you are available in case the delivery team call you before they arrive.
If you have not provided a valid mobile number, we will instead email you 24 hours prior to your delivery with your AM or PM 4 hour time slot. However, we will not be able to inform you of the delivery's imminent arrival but will aim for the delivery to be within the slot advised in the email the day before. You can also use the Track and manage my order tool if you have not provided a valid contact number.
