Episode 6
Mum, Becky lives with her two daughters. Sadly, Becky's husband, Dean, passed away in October 2020. The family moved to the house in December 2019 offering them practical space as Dean's illness progressed.
Living room
The room previously lacked personality, was uninviting and the majority of the floor space was unused. A large, but little used sofa dominated the space and the placement of furniture within the space interrupted the flow. Although the children had a dedicated play room, they spent most of their time playing in the living room.
After
The new furniture creates plenty of storage space, whilst opening up the room and the low and soft seating is much more child friendly. Low storage, accessible for the children, can be used to store toys, whilst memories, decorations and plants are stored higher up safely behind glass doors. A solid wood parquet floor is revealed and restored complementing the design of the space. The panelling creates a contemporary look and protects the walls from direct contact with furniture. The choice of colour, botanical wallpaper and plants helps to bring the outdoors in and create a connection to nature.
Office
Previously used as playroom, the space became a dual functioning space as Becky now uses it to work from home and needed a dedicated office solution. However, working in a room full of toys, has become challenging for her. The room felt cluttered and chaotic and wasn't the best environment for any of the family to focus in.
After
The playroom come office is transformed into a designated room where they can all work and create together efficiently in one space. Becky has a new desk space and the children have their own work stations too, with colour blocking to create individuality and zoning. Storage keeps crafts, drawing and school supplies neatly organised. The FLISAT desks are height adjustable so that they can grow with the children as they move from play to homework. Plants are added to soften the room and create a relaxing atmosphere.
Entrance room
The entrance room was previously used as Dean's accessible bedroom. However, since Dean's passing the family were using it as a thorough fare. Disorganised wardrobes and a dysfunctional layout meant that Becky and the children were in and out of there as quickly as possible.
After
The room is sensitively transformed into a well functioning entrance room. Floor to ceiling PAX storage creates functional storage for the outdoors loving family, with rails and dividers to keep coats and outdoor gear tidy and easy to find. An upholstered bench creates a great solution for comfortably putting on shoes and boots. Plenty of storage is created as well as special displays and bespoke solutions to put memories of Dean in pride of place.
