Sustainability & Community Initiatives
We want to make it easy for the many people to live more sustainably at home. At our Central Fulfillment Units, we do our part by adapting eco-friendly ways of working, as well as packaging and shipping products to both our stores and directly to customers’ homes - helping you live a more sustainable every day at home.
At IKEA it’s also important to have a positive impact for people and the planet in the communities in which we live and work. Below are just a handful of our sustainability efforts and community initiatives within our central fulfillment units.
- Furniture donations to youth centers, pediatric centers and school libraries
- Furniture donations to set up transitional apartments for women who have lived economic and social precariousness
- Preparation and donations of food baskets during the holiday season
If you think forklifts are for everyone, then you’re for us.
At IKEA, we believe that everyone has the right to be treated fairly and given equal opportunities, no matter what their gender is.
We’re committed to reaching true gender equality. That means ensuring equal opportunities for both women and men, and reaching 50/50 gender balance in all countries, levels and positions, including boards and committees. We’re proud that at IKEA Canada, 51% of our managers and 51% of our co-workers are female, and our management team is gender equal.
We believe gender equality is a human right. Gender equality is also about creating an inclusive culture where all genders are valued for their unique contributions.
