From pre-loved to re-loved: we’re giving IKEA furniture a second life
A circular economy starts with a BILLY bookcase (or INGO table, or NORRARYD chair)
Every year, millions of pieces of secondhand furniture go to waste. That’s why we’re buying back used IKEA furniture, to give chairs, shelves or chests of drawers as many lives as possible.
The Sell-Back Program
With our sell-back service it’s never been easier to re-use, recycle and reduce. You can receive in-store credit and give your used IKEA furniture a second life.
How it works:
- Login to your IKEA Family account, or sign up for free to become a member.
- Send us 4 or more photos of the item you would like to sell.
- Allow 5 business days for an assessment, then check your application status online.
- Drop off your item and get your in-store credit from your selected store.
Did you know?
In 2019, IKEA gave 47 million recovered products a second life.
Better homes and a better world
When we look to improve our homes, we all need to consider how to reduce our impact on the planet. Does a piece of furniture really need replacing? Could it be given a second life? Our sell-back service is one of the ways we are making it easier and more affordable to live more sustainably.
Fully circular by 2030
We’re committed to being a fully circular business by 2030. To reach this goal, we create sustainable products that can be used and re-used for many years to come, right up until it’s time to recycle them and start again.
