IKEA x Furniture Bank

Furniture Bank is a registered charity and a social enterprise that redistributes furniture to those experiencing furniture poverty. This service provides low-income individuals and families with home essentials needed to create conditions of comfort, dignity, and stability that come from having a furnished home.

IKEA Canada began a partnership with Furniture Bank in 2019. The partnership enables both organizations to contribute to having a positive impact on both people and the planet. Our vision is to continue strengthening the capabilities of our partnership with Furniture Bank to improve our circularity efforts and meet social needs in an ethical, motivated, responsible, and community-oriented way.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can donate furniture by visiting Furniture Bank's website and following the donation instructions. Alternatively, you can drop off your items for free at designated locations or arrange for a paid pickup service. Furniture Bank accepts a variety of gently used furniture items, including sofas, chairs, tables, dressers, and mattresses. All donations must be in good condition and free from major damage.
All clients of Furniture Bank have access to an allotted number of home furnishings, at no cost to them. The allotment is based on the number of family members in the client’s household. Items selected are then delivered to their home by Furniture Bank. There is a fee for this delivery service. This subsidized fee ranges from $100 to $300, based on the number of items selected and any existing agreement with the client’s social service agency.
