I would rate it between 3 and 4 stars. Its power is adequate at the maximum fan speed. The fan has 3 speed level, level 1 and 2 are quiet but level 3 (maximum fan speed) is very loud. I usually need to use level 3 to clear the smoke and steam from cooking. The slide switch for fan speed is rather rigid - if I want to switch from level 1 to level 2, I often overshoot to level 3 because I feel like I have to force the switch to slide over. The look is pleasing and relatively easy to clean. On the whole, I am satisfied with the performance of this rangehood given the significantly reduced price I paid for it, but for its original price, I probably could find a better alternative.3

      wife is happy, I'm happyEricRelatively easy to install but there's no margin for error drilling holes for the hood hanger and supporting screws on the wall. If holes are not horizontal it will be difficult to keep the hood horizontal, The lower screws are right besides the "trunk" - not easy to put in unless you have a very long screwdriver. Have to leave the chimney bracket 1/4" from ceiling because there's not much room, again, for screwdriver. Just a reminder - it does not come with any wall screws, duct and electric wire strain relief. Suction is good. Although CFM not specified, it holds paper towel in the lowest setting. The lights are so bright. Wish it comes with a dimmer.4

      Looks nice, quiet, but difficult installAnonymous reviewerOverall very happy. Hard to beat the quality at this price! I like how the undercount switches give the hood nice clean lines. Reasonably quiet at levels 1 & 2 and good extraction at 2 & 3. My only gripe is the installation could’ve been easier. The two lower mounting brackets were recessed and very difficult to screw into. A minimum height for the exhaust vent hole would’ve been nice in the specs.4

      Sound levels

      Sound levels for appliances are measured in decibels (dBs). Our extractor hoods have been tested in speed 3 to determine the dB level. The sound level of your extractor hood is affected by: • Type of installation. Exhaust-mode or recirculation-mode. • Length and diameter of the exhaust pipe between extractor and exhaust vent. The longer it is and the smaller the diameter, the louder it gets. • 90° bends. The more bends you have in the exhaust pipe, the greater the sound.

      Quality

      Sensitive to noise or have an open-plan home?

      For extractor hoods, a noise level below 60 dB is considered low – roughly equivalent to a normal conversation between two people. We measure the noise level of our hoods at max speed, making it easier to compare different models. Note that sound levels decrease at lower speeds, and recirculating hoods are typically louder than those vented outdoors. Noise may also increase if the ducting is long or has several bends, as the air has to work harder to pass through the system.
