Error in Drilling of Peg HolesAmberIn trying to assemble this shelf we ran into some issues that, initially, we thought was our misunderstanding of the instructions. After putting it together, taking it apart, and then putting it together again we realized that the issue with the top and bottom panels of the shelf not lining up with pegs at the bottom and top of the vertical pieces was an issue with the drilled holes being misaligned when drilled. In doing some research we found that IKEA has a history of putting wrong pieces in a set. We believe that the top and bottom horizontal panels that we received aren’t meant for this shelf - hence the struggle we’ve had putting it together. Extremely frustrating!!! 😡
Stay away from this bookshelf ElizabethBought this in store dragged it home, spend an hour on the first 6 pieces only to realize it had a manufacturing mistake. When it comes time to put the top onto the three supporting pillars, the holes in the top piece that are supposed to take the mushroom screws of the bottom middle piece don’t align. It’s about an inch off. Impossible to put the top piece on. Same problem with the bottom piece, doesn’t align with middle pillar. Contact support, show support a picture, and support confirms it’s a manufacturing error and currently waiting 5 days for them to come pick it up from my place because I can’t take it apart myself to bring it back. For replacement delivery it’s a week and I don’t want to wait that long so I go back to store and get another one.
Same problem on the second one. I just want to put my bookshelf up. Think I am going to snap one of the mushroom screws off and settle for a wobbly bookcase. Don’t recommend at all.
Okay Shelf, durability lackingAustinAbout 4 years ago, I needed a shelf to store books and a trading card collection. I decided to get two of these shelves.
Assembly was easy. I live alone and I was able to assemble it by myself. Then it was easy enough for me to lift to where I needed.
It held the weight of my books and cards fine. And the size was just what I needed.
However, after a few months I noticed the back of the shelf was coming off. It was bowing out towards the wall. Possibly due to the fasteners not being strong enough when I pushed a book or binder back into the shelf.
Eventually, 4 years later, I had to move. During the move, in the truck, the fasteners failed entirely. The back came off entirely on one of them.
I'll probably be getting a different shelf to replace it as I need a larger one for my collection now. But this shelf model worked fine enough while it lasted.

Holes were not aligned properlyKimHoles were not aligned properly and holes were put in the right spots so we had to make it work by adjusting the shelves in different spots. Due to these problems it took quite awhile to put it together. This unit is exactly what we needed and it wouldn’t be worth the drive as we live a distance away to go get a new one and see if it is made properly. Very disappointed in the making of this product
