Unsafe and disappointing qualityEmmettI purchased a set of these glasses, along with the larger version, and unfortunately, several have shattered unexpectedly without any impact. This raises serious safety concerns. I’m disappointed in the quality and will be disposing of the remaining ones as it’s not worth the risk of broken glass and spilled drinks. I wouldn’t recommend these given the risk and inconsistency.

Spontaneously explodesKalynThese glasses are the perfect size and colour, but they explode spontaneously. We only got around to unboxing them a week ago and already half (2/4) have exploded into several teeny, tiny shards. One broke in my husband's hands during use and the other broke in the top shelf of the dishwasher at the end of the cycle (so not a sudden temperature change or anything). 5 month update - ALL HAVE SHATTEREDSarahI left a review on May 11 regarding these glasses. My mum had bought me a pack of the brown colour in-store. By 2 months, 2 glasses had spontaneously shattered. It’s now 5 months since I got these and they have ALL spontaneously shattered. Two of them crumbled in the dishwasher (before running a cycle), and the other two shattered in my sink just sitting there dry. These glasses are UNSAFE and SHOULD NOT BE SOLD. I am deeply disappointed to see them still available and sincerely hope this quality issue is addressed before someone is injured.
SPONTANEOUS EXPLODING GLASSSusanaToday, one of these glasses spontaneously exploded while drying on a dish rack. This is very dangerous! I have small children and they could have easily been hurt if they were near the glass. I don't recommend this product and it should be pulled off the shelf.
Glass Exploded Day After PurchaseLjI bought this set of 4 green-tinted Vardagen glasses yesterday, and today one of the glasses exploded and shattered on its own while I was in another room. The glass had a little bit of room temperature tap water in it, and wasn’t near anything that could’ve knocked into it. The glass just broke on its own. I’m returning the rest of the glasses out of fear they’ll shatter, or worse they’ll shatter while someone is holding one. Super unreliable and dangerous product that shouldn’t be sold, given the large volume of reviews I’ve read about other people experiencing the same glass shattering problem as me. Please do better Ikea.

Spontaneous crackingLisaI really love the design of these glasses. They're beautiful. I bought a pitcher as well. But...I'm really concerned. I thought this was a one off incident. A glass was left on the kitchen table with some water. Then it seemed to spontaneously break. No one touched it. Then it cracked. The bottom quarter from the other 3/4. This happened again. We heard a weird noise from the kitchen. Glass broken. It looked like it has been sliced at a weird angle. It was by the sink. Nothing inside. Now I'm concerned about my kids using them.

Exploded without warningRebeccaWe poured fridge temperature orange juice into a room temperature glass and left it on the kitchen table. We forgot about it, and a few hours later I heard an explosion. The bottom of the glass exploded into pieces, while the top 70% stayed together as one large piece. There was no sun or anything hitting it, so we have no idea what happened to cause it.

Designing for the tastes of people around the world
Do you sometimes cook dishes from other cultures? Then you’re part of an international trend called transculturalism. It basically means that global cooking and eating habits are a lot more similar than you may think. How can we cater for this trend? We designed the VARDAGEN series with products that can be used in multiple ways. In Swedish, VARDAGEN means “every day”, which is just how the products are meant to be used, no matter where you live.
“Consumers have access to cultural diversity in cooking and eating from all over the world,” explains Ina Tidbeck Sjöblom, who helped create the products. “They want to taste the best of all cultures, which means that it’s not only in Asia that we need eating products for sushi.”
