The kitchen island has a pull-out drawer which closes softly and quietly thanks to its soft-closing function.
You can store anything from cutlery and napkins to laptops and pens in the generous drawer beneath the countertop.
Countertop with a thick oak veneer, a durable natural material that can be sanded and surface treated when required.
Different wall and floor materials require different types of fixing devices. Use fixing devices suitable for the walls or floors in your home, sold separately.
To ensure that your countertop ages gracefully, treat it regularly with wood treatment oil; it gives the surface a beautiful sheen, protects the wood and prolongs the life of the countertop.

Pretty but stay awayTylerMissing pieces and holes not drilled make for a very difficult assembly. This is the first to require a drill and clamps. Also you will have to purchase additional lumber because using the box does not work. The instructions also show 2 handles but only 1 is in the box.
That said the tabletop and legs were as expected.
Avoid this product there have to be better ones.
Looks great, but a VERY poor assembly experienceReillyThe Vadholma Kitchen Island really does look great, but that alone is not worth the abysmal assembly experience. From a poor packaging design and a manufacturing issue that resulted in two (2) separate islands with broken pieces right after assembly, to the worst hole tolerances I have ever seen resulting in the breaking of one of the drawer "hooks", this is not a good look for IKEA as an affordable, well designed, and "easy-to-assemble" company. I had to order replacement parts just to hopefully fix the issues brought on by the disappointing tolerances from the factory.
Truly think twice about your confidence in assembling a difficult IKEA piece before purchasing this island.
Dowels don't fit, wood was damaged, door is too small to even fit a butter knife.ChristopheMany of the dowels did not fit. I Had to sand down each dowel individually to make them fit. The leg on one side arrived damaged. The drawer is very very small, it won't even fit a butter knife and 1/4 of it will not come out. Why?!
Despite all of this, no return/refund/discount was offered despite reaching out many times. No one followed up with my inquiries...
Particleboard and impossible to assembleChristopheI just paid $600 for particle board!! Particle board that can’t be assembled because the pegs are too big for all the pre drilled holes in the wood.
Absolutely ridiculous.
The finish on the particle board feels like plastic. Not suitable for a kitchen.
IKEA is saying I can’t return this because the box is opened.
Looks beautiful!GauthierThis gets a lot of compliments in our home! It looks great and works wonderfully. Assembly was easy except for the drawer. Not sure if something was off but we really struggled, even for two ikea pros. The drawer still feels a bit strange compared to other products, I think because of the soft close mechanism

Cautious, may not assembly wellKirstenI was super excited to get my island and get it put together. Disappointment and frustration is how it ended. Not sure which piece was twisted, but it impeded the entire assembly and even affected the pre-assembled shelves (separated the slats from the rails and now the dowels are visible on some slat ends). I had to shave down some dowels to get them to go in the pre-drilled holes and also used a mallet to get the gaps to close. Then to cap it off when I installed the towel rack, the bar is a hair too short, the screw wont catch. So now I have to drilled holes on the side of the island. I have assembled more Ikea furniture than I'd like to admit over 25 years and never have I experienced anything quite as awful as this island. Not sure where I will go from here, it was very pricey and does not look as nice as it should.
Useful island TaraThe shelving is nice but would have preferred that it be covered in - either by cabinets or drawers. Otherwise, it’s a nice island - no seating but helps with counter space!
Sturdy kitchen islandMarthaThis island is a sturdy well-built piece of furniture that we used to attached and prolong our kitchen counter. The height adjusted to the counter and fit perfectly in our kitchen. We like the drawer size and bought extra baskets at IKEA to contain our appliances . I recommend this piece.
Great product - installation has issuesGaneshWe bought this and assembled. The middle trays do not sit flush with the sides. The middle horizontal support for the trays are supported by the side walls using dowels and the dowels do not go inside fully, they are a little bigger than the holes provided.

Sturdy, lots of additional shelf space, and a perfect sized hidden drawer, that is perfect for keeping my sharp knives and tools it.
I do not cut directly on the faux woodblock top, and instead I use a bamboo cutting surface that I also bought at IKEA, that works perfectly for when I am butchering large chunks of meats and doing mise en place, for my cooking.
I definitely recommend this item for anyone's kitchen looking for additional counter and storage space.
