Glass keep breaking IsaiahNo matter how carefully I am, the French press glass tip keeps breaking, this was like my 3 time happening, I do not recommend1
The new version is made of plastic Anna CatharinaI had this French press in the past and it was all metal with only the external parts made of plastic. Now they added plastic parts in the interior as well. I’m returning mine.1
The best affordable coffee maker!!JanetMy favourite coffee pot!5
Now made with plastics!ArunI am replacing an UPPHETTA french press that I previously owned and it was perfect. I use a french press because I don't want to be exposed to plastics especially not those in contact with heat. The previous model used to be made with all stainless steel components. I bought its replacement or what I thought was it's identical replacement only to find out that the critical components are made out of black plastics. This one costs more than my previous model but disappointingly contains black plastics on unknown origin. Not worth returning but it is going in the trash. Save your money and buy a Bodum which is thankfully made with stainless steel components and you won't be soaking your coffee in toxic plastics.1
Not the bestJoëlleGood quality for the price, but the handle tends to loosen, there isn’t enough space for a comfortable grip, and it gets hot enough that I burn my hand each time I use it.3
Works wellAngelikaRecent purchase, appears to be a good one thus far!5
Avoid: plastic cross-plateRanenAs others mentioned, the cross-plate (one of the parts that goes into the near-boiling water) is made of plastic. Not only is this a health and taste concern, but the assembly won't last. Other french-presses that have metal screw into plastic (plastic that is repeatedly thermally stressed) are known to crack at that exact stress point quite soon. 1
Cost effective coffee makerSimoneInexpensive French Press that is a good size for 2 cups. Does a good job!5
Plastic has gone up, quality has gone downSaloniI purchased this yesterday after my previous UPPHETTA French press of two years broke. Was disappointed to see that not only has the price gone up, but the quality has gone down. The old UPPHETTA's filter was made entirely of metal, but this one contains a combination of metal and plastic! Plastic should not be in direct touch with hot coffee, especially with concerns of microplastics and their impact on our health. The increased use of cheap plastic shows that IKEA's claims of sustainability are simply greenwashing - this is just another big company cutting corners on health, quality and sustainability.3
Perfect for a Cup of CoffeeAnonymous reviewerI had a previous version in turquoise but unfortunately it broke after years of use. Didn't hesitate to buy another one just like it, although the turquoise was no longer an option. 5

NopeFranMold started accumulating under the metal band that wraps around the carafe (can see it through the glass). So it's impossible to clean properly unless you want to take apart every single little piece after each use.1
New version is worseAllanI have an older 1L Uphetta and bought a 0.4L one as I do not need the large size. The new version has a plastic bottom rather than a stainless steel one from the older bottom. The sieve fell apart after a couple uses and no longer screws tight. When pushing down or when frothing milk it fell apart. I wouldn't count on this product for longevity with the new versions. The older version is more durable with the stainless steel bottom.1
New version is worseAllanI have an older 1L Uphetta and recently bought a 0.4L size as I do not need a larger size. The bottom of the sieve is now plastic rather than stainless steel. It broke after a few uses and now longer screws on tightly. The sieve also came loose after pressing as its no longer screwed tight. This product would be rated higher if it kept the stainless steel bottom but I wouldn't count on this newer version for longevity with the plastic bottom.1
Excellent quality and price.LumI have an earlier version of this coffee maker for many years, and only broken by accident. Thus, the search for a replacement.4
Very affordable & does the jobSandra AniellaGot it in the new white colour — so pretty. Great quality yet very affordable compared to others. Easy to use and clean as well.5

Good product PankajThe price was very cheap and the thing works very well as it says.5
Perfect size for 2 cups! DebraMy husband is the only regular coffee drinker in our house so this is perfect for his daily use. He didn't know if he would like it vs. a machine but he has found it easy to use & produces a good product. Great price point as well. 5

UPPHETTA French press coffee maker, glass/stainless steel, 34 oz

A better everyday one cup at a time

Have you had coffee or tea today? Statistically, you most likely have. In fact, these hot brews are the most consumed beverages in the world next after water. They’re a part of life that can give a silver lining to any moment. That’s why we decided to update our selection of products to make that perfect cup – from the tea infuser and the kettle to the milk frother.

Malin Ljungström, who was involved in developing the range, shares her insights. “To many, the smell of coffee and tea means well-being and a homey feeling. Since we want to improve people’s everyday, we’re offering products that make it possible for more to experience more feelgood moments at home.”

Developing things that make a difference

Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

For all tastes and different wallets

No matter how you enjoy your cup, you’ll find the things that put an extra flavor to your drink in the range. Another good thing is that there’s something for all wallets. “It’s one of our contributions to a better life at home. A way to improve people’s everyday one cup at a time,” concludes Malin.
