Big enough for company.BRIANThese are great coffee presses for the cost! Expect to pay twice as much elsewhere for something that’s only half as good. One suggestion I would make is if they added a coffee scoop to help decide the amount of coffee to add make it less intimidating for those new two a coffee press, and then you can adjust it to your taste. But these coffee presses are fantastic, no filters, no electricity, you just have to boil water and add coffee. I guarantee you it makes a liter of coffee faster than your electric, drip coffee maker. It just takes a little more effort because you can’t set a timer for it to be ready when you get up!5
Quick cuppa joe!BRIANGreat size for a quick and easy cup of REAL coffee. Adding a scoop that gave a suggestion as to the amount of coffee to use might make it less intimidating to those new to coffee presses.4

They're great but I have broken at least 10 of them by nowKenI love these French press. I have the smaller one and a bigger one but I keep breaking them because I accidentally hit them into something else. Ikea needs to make a stainless steel one.5
Great value, flawed plunger capROBERT C.I have purchased and ultimately disposed of 3 of these now, all failing in exactly the same place. The weak plastic top on the plunger assembly always breaks off where the vertical cylinder meets the top palm disk. I have temporarily repaired a couple of them with a hefty helping of 2-part epoxy to reattach the cap, but it is wild to me how this design continues to be produced despite such an easily addressed failure point. I would much rather pay 50-100% more to get something with a properly solid moulded plunger instead of constantly babying the plunger when I press. When it's working, it works just fine. The rest of the assembly is of good quality.3
Broken, used onceAlberto V.Can’t remember the last time I had a bad IKEA moment, perhaps it’s my first. I had a similar coffee press from IKEA that lasted over 10 years. When it finally broke I purchased this one, a similar model as the one I had was not there, probably discontinued. Right from the start it felt lower quality, thinner glass but didn’t think it would break so fast. It wasn’t smashed, dropped or hit, I’m not sure how but the whole bottom broke off by the black ring’s indentation. I’d say skip this one, pay 10$ more and get a better one somewhere else.1

A better everyday one cup at a time

Have you had coffee or tea today? Statistically, you most likely have. In fact, these hot brews are the most consumed beverages in the world next after water. They’re a part of life that can give a silver lining to any moment. That’s why we decided to update our selection of products to make that perfect cup – from the tea infuser and the kettle to the milk frother.

Malin Ljungström, who was involved in developing the range, shares her insights. “To many, the smell of coffee and tea means well-being and a homey feeling. Since we want to improve people’s everyday, we’re offering products that make it possible for more to experience more feelgood moments at home.”

Developing things that make a difference

Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

For all tastes and different wallets

No matter how you enjoy your cup, you’ll find the things that put an extra flavor to your drink in the range. Another good thing is that there’s something for all wallets. “It’s one of our contributions to a better life at home. A way to improve people’s everyday one cup at a time,” concludes Malin.

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
