Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

It can be a bit difficult to open and seeing as I have issues with my hands, it presents a challenge opening ir. There also seems to be no way to open the lid to clean it properly so I'm always worried about mold growing on the inside.

Great coffee carafeAnonymous reviewerGreat coffee carafe for pour over coffee. Used my own drip, which fits comfortably in the neck of the pot. The opening is about 50mm wide within a 90mm depression into which the lid closes. The 1.2L volume is a good size - 5 hearty cups of coffee. Insulation seems effective and coffee stayed hot for about 4-5 hours if you follow the instructions and pour some boiling water in first to warm the carafe. And it’s very attractive! All in all it’s a great addition to the kitchen and a fraction of the price of a brand name carafe.

What is stainless steel?
Stainless steel is found in everything from building structures and cars to sinks and knives. It’s easy to see why it has so many uses. Stainless steel is hard and durable and has good resistance to corrosion – namely rust. It generally has a low nickel content, and for IKEA products we mainly use stainless steel that’s nickel-free.
