Stylish chairBonnie B.Just put it together, 6 screws and that's it! Nice and sturdy and looks great. Love the rattan with the black metal legs. Not a small chair, nice and wide.5
Pretty accent chair!RosalieBought this for a small area of my condo living room. Love the look! Feels sturdy and is fairly comfortable with a sheepskin throw. My one complaint is the rattan on the arms is a little rough on the skin.4

Ulriksberg Arm ChairKarimThis is a very good looking and designed arm chair. Provides ultimate comfort with a low profile and nice mix of industrial and organic look. It has definitely elevated the space to my surprise. Highly recommend it.5
Looks beautiful and is sturdy,SonalLooks beautiful and is sturdy, not some lightweight chair that will move around. Design is good and its comfortable due to the ample seating space.5
Rattan chairLaurieThis chair is attractive and good value. It’s great for a Scandinavian or boho style decor, it’s lightweight so easy to move around, and can be “dressed up or down”. My only concern is the strength of the rattan weave. I’m not sure it will hold up for the long haul. But definitely a worthy purchase!4

Good DepthNasalskyx3I bought this chair sight unseen and I really like it. I threw a sheep skin on it for a little more cushion and I find it really comfy. You sit far back and it has a little lean, plus it was suuuuuper easy to put together, I’m gonna go back and buy another one!5

Invite nature into your home with rattan

Rattan is a living material with a will of its own. That’s why we work together with experienced weavers who shape the rattan vines to functional products. The cooperation means you can have handmade furniture in your own home - created by man and nature together.

Rattan is a fast-growing palm tree that needs to be boiled and sun-dried before it can be tamed into different shapes that we can sit on, rest in, or decorate our homes with. This is where the professional weavers come in. “We wouldn’t be able to make authentic rattan products without them. They have skills that can’t be copied by machines”, says Andreas Fredriksson, who has designed some of our rattan furniture together with the artisans.

One-of-a-kind furniture

With rattan, it’s possible to create round and organic shapes that are difficult to achieve with other materials. Every rattan vine shifts in color and shape. It makes it impossible to manufacture two pieces of furniture that look exactly the same. On the other hand, you get unique items with a warm and homely feeling. “There are simpler materials to work with, but the liveliness in rattan is what gives it character. It can create a pleasant contrast to some of the other things many of us have at home”, says Andreas.

In cooperation with nature

If rattan is treated right it can be transformed into almost anything, even furniture with generous forms that can fit in a flat pack. But the design is not only up to the designer and the artisan. “You have to cooperate with Mother Nature and come up with some new solutions as well – but the reward when you get everything to harmonize makes it worthwhile”, finishes Andreas.

Material

What is rattan?

Rattan is a climbing plant belonging to the palm tree family. It grows as a vine on tree trunks, its fast-growing tendrils easily reaching 60, and sometimes more than 300, feet long. They can be harvested without harming the host trees and grow back quickly once harvested. We use this lightweight, flexible and durable material in products like armchairs, rocking chairs, side tables, outdoor furniture and for handmade baskets.
