It’s impossible to manufacture two that look exactly the same since every natural fibre shifts in colour and texture. Invite nature into your home
When we developed TOLKNING, we worked with experienced artisans. The result is a decorative and multi-functional series of natural fibre products that carry warmth, a unique expression and lots of character.
Simi Gauba and Kristin Pfannenschmidt are two of our product developers who are based in Vietnam and work a lot with natural fibres. “When we created TOLKNING, we got help from skilled artisans who know the strengths and weaknesses of the material,” says Simi. “Without them, we wouldn’t be able to offer these products to our customers.”

Simi says that working with natural fibres can be challenging, but that is also a part of the charm. “The TOLKNING series reflects a heritage that is worth preserving – man and nature together and skills passed on from generation to generation. What is rattan?
Rattan is a climbing plant belonging to the palm tree family. It grows as a vine on tree trunks, its fast-growing tendrils easily reaching 60, and sometimes more than 300, feet long. They can be harvested without harming the host trees and grow back quickly once harvested. We use this lightweight, flexible and durable material in products like armchairs, rocking chairs, side tables, outdoor furniture and for handmade baskets.
