The drawers on this chest of drawers extend 19 cm, a solution that reduces the tip-over risk in combination with wall-anchoring.

Beautiful Dresser! LyndsayI purchased this dresser almost 3 years ago and it’s still in mint condition! Not a scratch on it, which surprises me every time I dust!! I guess I lucked out with my timing too!! My drawers open fully, and they are nice, oversized drawers too! I use 3 and my husband uses 3, and we both have plenty of extra space leftover! I hope IKEA is actually taking into account these reviews because I’m about to purchase the tallest one for my teen daughter, but honestly, what’s the point if she won’t be able to open her drawers or find anything?! The whole point is to get her to use her dresser, instead of her floor! (Send help! Lol) I love mine so SO much!!! Why fix what’s not broken?!! This would probably be a regularly low-stock item if the drawers opened fully like mine do! These drawers are deep too! I can’t imagine not being able to open them! 5
Beautiful but not practical KarenThis is a very beautiful dresser. But it’s not practical at all. Unfortunately the new design has made it so the drawers barely come out beyond 1/2 way, making it very inconvenient and annoying to get clothes in and out of the drawers. 1

Baby room dresserLanaOverall we like it, looks great, used it in baby’s room. Biggest complaint is the drawers only open part way - we understand for safety but it’s hard to know what it stuffed in there or get anything with structure into the drawers. My husband is considering changing out the sliders on some of them to give us more access. 4
The drawers only open half way 🙁NaheedThe dresser looks great, but it’s useless, because I can’t fit anything inside. The side railings are short and therefore It doesn’t open all the way. I called them and they said it’s because of safety! They are providing longer railings, but I need to find someone to help me to drill extra holes and assemble the longer rails 😞 I spent so much time and effort to put it together, and now I’m dependent on someone to help me fix it 😞😞1

Had I read the reviews, I wouldn't have purchased thisKayleyThe dresser was fairly simple to put together (pay attention to the holes on the diagram!), and looks great in my daughter's room. But the fact that the drawers only open half way, and it doesn't say that in the description is incredibly frustrating. You only discover this design flaw once you've hauled three heavy boxes up a flight of stairs, spend 3 hours putting it together, and start trying to fill it. Thankfully, my 10-year-old doesn't seem to mind, otherwise, I'd be asking IKEA to send someone to haul this dresser back to the store.2
Depth of Draw openingKatrinaI bought this dresser about a year ago and love it. Just bought a second for my son’s room March of 2024 and the drawers only open about 1/3 the way. This makes the dresser basically useless. I will be returning this product. When I spoke with customer service they mentioned that they reduced the opening depth because there was reports that the dresser has fallen over. This dresser comes with wall mounts and if you choose not to use them, you are making that choice to have the dresser potentially fall over as a hazard. Extremely disappointed. 1

At IKEA, we want to create a better everyday life for the many people – and a safer life is a better life. That’s why we constantly work to develop innovative stability solutions.

Furniture tipping over is one of the home furnishing industry's most serious safety issues and we’ll never stop working on innovative stability solutions for our storage furniture. A tip-over accident can happen when you least expect it. It could be someone using a drawer as support to stand up or children climbing to reach something on top. But no one can predict all the scenarios that everyday living at home can create. That’s why the best way to avoid tipping accidents is to always anchor the furniture to the wall. But we also offer new stability solutions that help make our storage furniture safer. One example is our stability feature Anchor and Unlock. "It means that the chest of drawers must be anchored to a wall to be able to open more than one drawer at a time, which reduces the risk of tipping, but doesn’t entirely remove it. By anchoring the chest of drawers to the wall, you unlock the drawers and can open them all at once," says Björn Andreasson from the development team. Another way we increase stability is to integrate it into the design. "With GREÅKER cabinet with drawers, for example, we´ve developed hinges that stop the doors at a 115-degree angle and keep them there to reduce the risk of tipping," says product developer Dagmara Pawlus. IKEA of course meets all safety requirements in our markets, but we don’t just settle for this. We often set higher demands than what legislation requires to help people enjoy a better everyday life – in a safer home.
