Drawers has changedIrish FayeI had this dresser from early pandemic and the drawer pulls out fine with reasonable space. I bought another one recently and the drawer assembly has changed, drawer pulls out much shorter compared to what I bought earlier. The sliding thing material on the side are much shorter now which explains why these drawers don’t open much3

Two DisadvantagesFarisI went to buy 5 separate pieces of SONGESAND drawers today, but I changed my mind when I saw them displayed. First, the drawer can be pulled only 33%. Which makes it unpractical to use. Second, the inside drawer colour is black, which makes it even harder to see inside. The drawer became like a dark cave. Obviously, whoever designed this model did not take full consideration. Other models, the drawer opens 60% and the inside is a light colour. I did not buy, and I do not recommend it.2
Songesand 4 Drawer DresserSueSadly after assembled, only to realize that the drawers only pull out half way. This basically makes the dresser useless to put things into. We live far away from Ikea, so not able to return. I will see if we can modify with other drawer slides/rails...Otherwise nice design.2
DRAWERS USELESS AND ANNOYING TO ACCESS CLOTHESAngieI understand that all dressers come with a safety feature to prevent tipping BUT this dresser is over the top. I have to actually pull out the drawer to get to my clothes and then have trouble putting drawer back in. I have bought other brands of dressers from Ikea and yes they have a mechanism to prevent tipping BUT those drawers open pretty much fully so I can access my clothes and I have had the furniture for 18 yrs. now. I do love them though despite that and love the handles. 2

Drawers barely openJasonNice looking but useless. The recent change to reduce the chance of tipping restricts drawers so they only open 30% of the way. It makes it extremely hard to use the drawers now the you only have a very small opening to access the drawer, and make the unit basically useless. Bought two, returning them both.1

What a mess!Anonymous reviewerAssembly was easy enough, but for drawers that only open half way is a huge disappointment. $279 for a dresser that isn’t even fully functional is insane. It’s such a pain that the drawers only open half way and that you can’t access the back of the drawers. Even though the assembly instructions were followed exactly, the dresser does not have even gapping on either side. This dresser is completely not functional, and looks terrible with the uneven gaps on either side of the drawers. I’m very annoyed with the functionality of this dresser and the cost is absurd for a dresser that doesn’t work functionally. Ikea you really need to take a look at the manufacturing and structure of this dresser. It needs serious help, and longer tracks for more functional drawers. 1
Worst dresser everAnonymous reviewerLooking back at all the other reviews I should have checked them out before purchasing. The drawers only open about half way. Total design flaw. We spent 2 hours each dresser setting them up only to realize that the drawers are basically useless. I’m now going to return them. They look nice and feel sturdy and match our bed frame and nightstands but with the useless drawers I am going to return it. Very disappointed 1

Looks beautiful. Operates more than poorly.FraserI am extremely dissatisfied with this dresser, despite the fact that it does actually look quite nice. The problem is with the designers' response to users who are not fixing their product to the wall. Though it says clearly in all of the instructions, many many times, to fix the dresser to the wall to prevent tipping, the drawers' sliding distance has also been shortened to prevent the dresser from doing so, for users who don't. This shortening is unnecessary if fixed to the wall... the instruments in order to do so are included by IKEA. So with these shortened drawers, you get 1/3 of a usable drawer. You can't see anything in the back. My solution was to hack the product and drill new holes and install new sliding rails. This took way too much time. Now that I've fixed it, I've realized that their very own skubb storage boxes don't even fit in them. No, IKEA, I'm not looking to return the product. I just want you to stop selling these failed products and fix the incompetence. 1

Furniture tipping over is one of the home furnishing industry's most serious safety issues and we’ll never stop working on innovative stability solutions for our storage furniture. A tip-over accident can happen when you least expect it. It could be someone using a drawer as support to stand up or children climbing to reach something on top. But no one can predict all the scenarios that everyday living at home can create. That’s why the best way to avoid tipping accidents is to always anchor the furniture to the wall. But we also offer new stability solutions that help make our storage furniture safer. One example is our stability feature Anchor and Unlock. "It means that the chest of drawers must be anchored to a wall to be able to open more than one drawer at a time, which reduces the risk of tipping, but doesn’t entirely remove it. By anchoring the chest of drawers to the wall, you unlock the drawers and can open them all at once," says Björn Andreasson from the development team. Another way we increase stability is to integrate it into the design. "With GREÅKER cabinet with drawers, for example, we´ve developed hinges that stop the doors at a 115-degree angle and keep them there to reduce the risk of tipping," says product developer Dagmara Pawlus. IKEA of course meets all safety requirements in our markets, but we don’t just settle for this. We often set higher demands than what legislation requires to help people enjoy a better everyday life – in a safer home.
