Ill-fitting makes putting up impossibleMargaretIKEA missed its usual accuracy in drilling the holes, etc., for this light, and so it's a pain in the keister to put up. One that I ordered might not fit at all unless I redrill. The light also does not hand squarely, even with adjusting in all the right places. It still looks slightly tilted. IKEA also did not include the plastic twist tops needed for assembling the electrical wires. Deeply disappointing. And I ordered 4 of them.

Beautiful lamp - most issues are easily resolvedBenSome people have commented that the glass is too dark, this is true, but can be easily fixed by using a 100W equivalent bulb. As for the "starburst effect", using a frosted bulb eliminates that. Easy to install and looks great.
Looks nice until you turn it onKatieI’m surprised I didn’t see any reviews mention that the light creates an insane starburst effect across the ceiling so I basically don’t turn the light on. It was not super intuitive to install (but it had to be because there weren’t instructions- in literally had to pull some up online). It’s very nice considering the price but I rarely use it (which doesn’t matter much anyway bc I prefer lamplight in the first place) so it is good as a fixture that fills the space of a ceiling light.
Solklint ceiling fixturesBrianLove their look, the value and are easy to install. They don’t come with mounting bracket screws, so have to reuse ones from your old fixture. Just an FYI.
Tinted glass makes room too darkLeahI love the aesthetic appearance of this light, but was disappointed in practice. The glass has a dark tint to it that dulls the light in the room; it would be much better if it were frosted, to diffuse the light without darkening it. I installed three Solklint fixtures in bedrooms a few months ago, and have already replaced one as it was too dark. Will likely replace the others in the coming months.

There is a huge space between this portion of the light and the ceiling no matter what I do. The black portion of the light is can be seen on top, does not look good up close.

Glass darker than expected but great value at $35MeganFor the cost, this is a great light fixture. It was larger and heavier than I was expecting. Note that the glass is a dark grey, not clear as pictured. At first, we thought the light fixture was broken because you have to *really* screw in the light bulb quite tight for it to work. We were also very surprised that it projects disco-like lighting; good for ambience, not for task lighting. Disappointing to see the price rise so rapidly ($30 in Dec 2022, $35 in Jan 2023, now $40 in Feb 2023) because it feels like the affordable options are getting fewer and fewer.

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
