With this loft bed you get a complete solution for your child’s room – including desk, wardrobe and open shelf unit.
You can assemble the desk parallel or perpendicular with the bed.
If you choose to assemble the desk perpendicular to the bed, you can access the wardrobe from both sides.
It´s easy to keep sockets and cords out of sight but close at hand with the cable outlet at the back.
To save on our natural resources and make use of as much of the tree as possible, we’ve used sawmill leftovers and scrap wood in the particle boards for SMÅSTAD.

Worst assembly experience of my life DetraThis was a nightmare. It took 3 of us 6 1/2 hours to assemble and some of the screws would not even go in. I now have a back injury and have lost an entire day of my life. This was expensive and I am furious with the assembly. I have NEVER in my life had such a terrible time building furniture!! I would not have purchased this product had I known. This was my first time buying from IKEA and I don’t know that I ever will again.

Assembly was pretty easy considering the size. Definitely have a second person to help out putting the bigger sections together. Our daughter loves it!
Great bed SamanthaI am loving this bed and the amount of storage it has added is so helpful. I would have liked the option to do Småsted shelving in the closet section instead of just a hanging rod. But overall a great sturdy bed.

Loft Bed with deskKerensaExactly what I was looking for. Was sold out for months so once it became available again, I was quick to purchase it. A little complicated to put together. Instructions aren’t completely clear sometimes and it definitely require at least 2 adults to put it together. My daughter loves it!

As-Is ScoreStephanieWe had a brand new SMASTAD in our cart, but when we got to the As-is section we saw one that was partially built already and with doors and drawers! We were so excited. Building the parts that we needed to was pretty straight forward. Definitely a two person job though. I love the direction IKEA quality is going. This structure is solid and perfect for our 7 year old. My only wish is that the ladder came out at an angle.

My girl loves it.NathanWell it fits the space and actually built well. The instructions were ok but I am only giving four stars as labeling which part in the instructions would save an immense amount of time and frustration. Definitely a two person job but we survived with a few moments of anger.

Versatile Customization and SturdyStaceyLove how versatile this is in terms of set up and customization. Very sturdy and well constructed. We purchased shelves for the large end section of the bed, rather than making it into a closet as many pictures show. All of the shelves and cubbies make it the perfect place to store and display all of a child's books, lego creations, art projects and other treasures.
It took an afternoon to set up. It would probably go much quicker and be safer if you have two people working together.

Great unit for kids! The "bureau" gives them a space to do homework, play video games, interact with friends, watch television, do arts and crafts, play board and cars games, etc, all the while maintaining a full bedroom of storage, including a closet and a bed! :)

Material
What is constructed board?
We use constructed boards when manufacturing many of our pieces of furniture, such as tables and wardrobes. They are light yet still stable and strong. Each board has a frame made of chipboard, fibreboard or solid wood, while the inside is a honeycomb filling structure made of mostly recycled paper, which is extra durable thanks to its special construction. The board is then covered with a protective paint, foil or veneer depending on the style wanted.
