The mounting plate concept is great, slots at different radii to accommodate a variety of electrical box sizes. My only complaint is that the mounting plate it comes with doesn’t work well if your electrical box mounting points unfortunately align with the small sections of the plate that doesn't have slots. In order to be able to have my fixture installed in the direction I wanted, I had to pull a bracket off an old fixture4
