The plastic inserts need to be redesignedJulien-CarlI like this chair and have owned it for about 6 months now, but the inserts design on this not exactly cheap office chair is wrong.
3 of them basically bent after barely 6-8 weeks, resulting in the wheels being in direct contact with the frame and making them useless.
Cheaper office chairs in Ikea's catalogue have full steel inserts to receive the feet/wheels, but this chair's plastic casters bent easily under the person's weight (it's only a push pin design that goes inside the frame but there's no real locking mechanism inside the frame, so it's being held by friction).
Adding further insult to the injury is the fact this part is not made available for replacement, you cannot buy new reinforced parts. I've decided to take it upon myself to basically redesign the part and 3D print a better solution. Ikea should offer replacement inserts and / or unify their entire office chair leg designs with modular leg / feet / casters / wheels like you can design your own Besta unit.

Breaks within a few yearsChelseaThe chair is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable at first, but I realized that it got dirty really quickly (I got the white one). Not even a week later, the wheels made it extremely hard to roll around. They were pretty stiff, but I could deal with it. Now it's my 4th year of having this chair and the base of the seat is broken. The seat tilts in every direction, so I'm carefully sitting on it until it completely breaks and/or until I have the time to get a new chair. I haven't been rough on this chair, and someone else has a similar review as me. I don't think paying almost $300 for a chair that lasts just a few years isn't worth it.
Broken but now upcycled!CéliaI had the same issue as other reviewers, with the chair breaking down where the seat attaches to the metal base.
As I got it on sale, I didn't feel as mad as if I paid full price, and I barely used it the first year or so, so it lasted a couple years in its original form.
Instead of discarding the whole thing, I removed the base -- the seat is now part of my upcycled floor desk setup, nicely complementing a vintage coffee table!
Soft caster mountsAlbertThe casters are mounted via soft plastic that can deform over time. As they deform the casters are no longer vertically aligned. This causes them to stop rotating at the mount point and drag across floors. This has the potential to leave scuff marks on surfaces.

Not great!JenniferBought two of these chairs a little over a year ago. Are very comfortable but the WHITE is a disaster. It seems to pick up what ever color pants you are wearing and does not come off. If returns during the pandemic were easier I would have shipped them back.
Not good for long hours sittingElhamIt is a nice looking chair. comfortable for a while. If you are going to use it as a visitor chair or, a gust/occasional chair in the living room, it is perfect. But, it's not a good idea for office chair and 8 hours of sitting. there is not a real back support and cushion is so thin.
