Love it!MichaelaIt took a bit of work to put it all together but it was well worth the effort. I love that this workbench gives me more storage space than my traditional kitchen island did even though the dimensions are the same! It is much easier to access all the things I store on the shelves and the drawer space is equally superior to a traditional kitchen drawer. I have not really made use of the hooks yet but I love the idea that they are there whenever I am ready. One drawback is the need to treat the wood with mineral oil on both sides. The underside as difficult to reach for someone my age (a senior). The bamboo surface holds up well with day to day use (after initial treatment with mineral oil) and easily cleans with a damp cloth. Stains easily come out with a little mineral oil, making it look brand new again. It is heavy enough so it won’t move easily while working on it, but not so heavy that I couldn’t move it myself. And it looks good to boot!! I can only recommend this item!
Fits the bill perfectlyDanThis is a great size and good quality. The assembly instructions include the option to have the wire shelf either on the bottom or middle, so make sure to decide that before just jumping in. I really like the large drawers but they aren't as tall as my previous island's so some things no longer fit.
Perfect for my spaceAlisaI really love this product. Im using it as a kitchen island. The drawers are big with soft close and the space below is great for oversized kitchen items. I also really like the look of it in my kitchen with the big butcher block top. If you follow the instructions carefully, it will be fine to set up yourself. Although it is very heavy once so make sure you are strong if you plan to do it yourself. I would pay attention to which drawer has blue wrapping and which one has clear as this matters for your left and right drawer assembly (one of the last steps). I do recommend treating the wood top with a conditioning oil to prevent splitting.
Great addition to my lack of kitchen workspaceAndreMy apartment has very little counter/workspace which meant that I had to move things around whenever I needed space to work. This kitchen island/work bench is very sturdy and easy to level. Once in place, it's not going anywhere unless you physically want to move it. It comes in 3 boxes and assembly steps allow you to pick which shelving you want and where (solid and slats) depending on your needs. I was impressed by the thickness of the bamboo worktop. Once treated (I used linseed oil), it will last a very long time with regular re-oiling/maintenance.
It was very easy to assemble, keeping in mind that it is quite heavy, so a helper is recommended. I would give it 5's across the board... Ikea's legendary quality shines through on this unit for sure. I will enjoy this workbench/island in the foreseeable future. It does say on the Ikea page that it's "combined with simple glass and steel." Just be aware that there is no glass in this super heavy duty unit. I highly recommend it!
