Good Chair, But Not A Good RockerCharlesThis chair is comfortable and sturdy, but the design of the rocker leaves a bit to be desired. The rocking action is not smooth and is very limited in motion. I think it could be better with a differing rocker design. The leather cushion is interchangeable with any of the other fabrics and colours in the product line. 4
This is one of the best value chairs that ticks all the boxes like comfort, style, durability. I have a Poang chair in a vacation home that has stood the test of time and use for 20 years. Just recently Painted the frame and recovered the cushion.Sherylhighly recommend5

Very comfortableSerhiiMy family and I tested all the chairs at IKEA and POÄNG appeared to be the most comfortable for all of us. It is very stylish too, that adds warmth and coziness to an otherwise plain interior. I wish there was another darker tan/sand leather variation, and the leather be softer, as it is hard and stiff. Also, I would prefer to have a thicker engendered wood frame for durability and better support for the seat cushion, which appears to sink over time, and is causing the leather seat to overstretch permanently due to insufficient support. IKEA compromised the chair quality with its weight reduction. I hope it will last us a long time, as we like it so much!4

What is layer-glued wood?

With layer-glued wood it’s possible to create flexible and extra strong constructions with curved shapes, like frames for armchairs. The secret is a technique where many layers of thin wood veneer are glued together and then pressed into the desired shape. We often use wood like birch, beech, ash and even bamboo – and strive to use the raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste. Just like solid wood, it has natural variations in structure and colour.
