"I've been interviewing people living in elderly homes and one thing that stood out was that a lot of people stopped using their porcelain when they ate because they're afraid it would break, or that they might feel clumsy using it," Britt says. A Robust Long ShoehornChristopherI credit IKEA with the introduction of long shoehorns. They are key to the comfort of all who have difficulty bending to put on a shoe. The original plastic ones tend to crack with the twisting that often comes with their use. The metal editions make absolute sense.

Long shoe horn perfect for non-bendy people!AnonymousThis very long metal shoe horn is great for non-bendy people! Plastic ones snap.. but with this being metal, it'll take an elephant to break it! (Elephants don't wear shoes!) We have two shoe horns by the front door shoe rack, and they get used daily by our non-bendy guests! Highly recommended.
Sturdy but heavyBagThe horn is great as it's very sturdy, ultra smooth and no worry about snapping it in half while using it like the previous iteration. However it is quite heavy and where it sits in my house it often get knocked over and dings the floor upon impact so secure yours well .

Good shoehorn bad stickerStephenThe shoehorn is good, -3 stars for the sticker label. I don't know why IKEA uses the cheapest, crappiest stickers on all their products: you try to peel them off, the paper self destructs, and you're left with adhesive and half a layer of sticky paper. Then you've got to either live with a janky looking half sticker, or break out the Goo Gone and spend 5 minutes cleaning adhesive off (and risking damaging whatever you just bought).
Writing a review for this may seem extreme lol but it's not the first time I've had my time wasted by this. IKEA sticker team, please take note!

Because we all need a hand sometimes
We don't always like to admit it, but at some time in life we all could use a little more support around the home. It might be a more supportive chair when pregnant, a longer shoehorn after running a marathon, or just more everyday assistance due to the natural process of ageing. That’s where the OMTÄNKSAM range comes in. Designed with input from ergonomists, physiotherapists and researchers in the care industry, it makes activities around the home safer, easier and more comfortable. Little surprise that the Swedish word OMTÄNKSAM simply means "caring”.
Our creative leader Britt Monti was the main force that pushed the project forward. "If you look into IKEA catalogues from the 60's you'll see we used to speak about comfort and support for older people or people with back problems for example," Britt explains. "But since the 80's we just didn't have this customer in mind when developing a range." Britt spoke with researchers, physiotherapists and doctors as well as people working in the caretaking field. The research gave a better picture on how best to support the body in doing basic household activities.
