Pine has a straight grain and the knots that give it its signature look. It is resistant to shrinking and swelling. Over time its color deepens and becomes richer.

Pretty but impracticalSuzanThis drop leaf table is very pretty with its scalloped edges, however that is exactly what makes it impractical. With the leaves down, the table is quite small (approx 30"x30"), and while adding the leaves increases the surface area, it is unlikely 2 additional ppl could be seated on those ends since the scalloped edges do not really allow for sufficient space to add full place settings of dinnerware and cutlery on those ends. A huge shame. Had the dimensions been larger altogether (similar to my existing ikea table at approx. 35.5"x35.5") then this would likely not have been an issue. Serious lack of thought went into that decision. Also, I question whether the tabletop could survive spills of wine etc. without getting stained. Unsure. Saw this in-store on display and decided not to purchase based on these problems.3
