Don't even bother!Marie-LouW-O-R-S-T hood fan ever! Come-on Ikea, you know better... it feel so cheap (but is expensive), not well made, and a pain in the a** to instal. We're very disappointed with this product. The older model from 2019 was way better. This our 3rd Ikea kitchen remodel, and been loving our appliances... but this hood fan, oh god. We don't recommend it at all. We don't usually leave product review, but for this one we're taking the time so you don't bother buying it!

Broken knob within only a few months of having it. CarleyThe knob broke off after only a few months of having it installed. Went to ikea and the lady said to buy a whole new vent…. lol. The vent is fine it’s the KNOB. They need to just have spare ones at the store because I’m noticing by reviews now that it’s a common problem.
Also, I told the lady at the desk that even if they replaced my entire vent for free, I would have to have the custom box built around the hood all dismantled and that’s such a pain for a tiny replaceable plastic knob.

Broken knob…again!CarolineKnob broke two years after installation but I was able to glue it back together and it was functional for another year before it broke again. I attempted to fix it again but it won’t stay in place. The unit itself is good but useless without the knob.
Note to Canadians: to get a replacement knob, you need to call this number 800-265-8352. The part number is 5304529206. If your range hood is still under warranty, you will need the serial number located under the left filter panel. If out of warranty, the part will cost you $82, plus tax which is insane for a little cheap plastic knob that will likely break again in no time. Hope this info is helpful to everyone that ever purchased this unit.
Note to IKEA: this is ridiculous. You need to do better than this. These replacement knobs should be readily available at your stores. Come on already! Do something about this!

You need to source a better quality knob. 100% of these sold have the same DEFECT. All these people with the same ISSUE !! They call for help and get the run around. Step up and get some better quality knobs in stock to ship to each customer.
EXAMPLE ; It's like buying a car and the ignition key breaks because it's made of CHEAP PLASTIC .
Can't start the car and can't find a replacement key. These knobs are the weak link. All these people stuck at home with the same PROBLEM.
Nice appliance but can't turn it ON !!!
Regret this purchase and disappointed no one seems to care. Have a quick meeting , come up with a plan and assist all these customers !!!

Really Bad QualityAtulWe installed this exhaust and within a few weeks the knob broke. I called Ikea support and they said they don't have the knob anymore and to check with the store. When I went to the store, they said to call the support line. I was being told to go back and forth between the store and support centre. I had to replace the entire exhaust because without the knob it's virtually impossible to turn the control knob.
Works amazingly well and really sleek integrated designDeneigeVery powerful fan, quiet on the low settings and incredible suction on high power! The 6.5w LED lights are bright enough for direct work lighting, but also a lovely warm tone. Installation was really simple even though we did not use the standard extractor cabinet (they don't come in the 40" height). We modified a 40" high Sektion cabinet - very simple to just move up the lower shelf and cut the centre hole and it looks seamless. I have read the reviews on the knob breaking, so hopefully ours stays in tact!

Online purchase through Ikea kitchen designer who sold it to us even though we specifically said we had a gas stove. The knob will break like every had already wrote.CoinThe knob broke after 4 months. Ikea didn't help the manufacturer wanted $60 for a replacement knob that will probably brake again. So instead I 3d printed my self a better knob. I'm still really disappointed with Ikea as I should not have to do that.

We don't live where there is an ikea so returning is not an option. ikea does not warrantee this product the manufacturer does. Impossible to get help so far no knob ... do not buy this product if you are looking for customer support or a reliable manufacturer
Broken knob... twice so farCristinaThe knob for the ÖMSINNAD has broken TWICE in 15 months. First time, it took 3 months aprox to receive the part. I just ordered the second and they charged me $63!!!!!!! YES, YOU READ RIGHT, $63 for the crappy plastic piece that breaks every 6 months. So, good business for Ikea making this appliance and charge consumers periodically $63 in parts. You know, the income is not in the extractor, is in the knob!!!
I would never buy an appliance in Ikea again for sure. And for those wondering, no, I'm not a chef and I don't spend my day in the kitchen, this is the regular use of a family that "eats food and uses a stove and of course, the extractor".

The suction is NOT good. At 1, it barely sucks any steam from a cooking pot. At highest setting it is extremely loud, and still not great. The knob is a bit flimsy feeling.

the button breaksSarahThe control button broke after a few weeks of installing this product. I've been trying and trying to find a solution and get a replacement button but everyone at Ikea sends me to someone else. Very frustrating.

Sound levels
Sound levels for appliances are measured in decibels (dBs). Our extractor hoods have been tested in speed 3 to determine the dB level. The sound level of your extractor hood is affected by: • Type of installation. Exhaust-mode or recirculation-mode. • Length and diameter of the exhaust pipe between extractor and exhaust vent. The longer it is and the smaller the diameter, the louder it gets. • 90° bends. The more bends you have in the exhaust pipe, the greater the sound.
