Very disappointing new finishBerniceI couldn't be more disappointed in these new doors. As others have mentioned, IKEA changed the coating on these doors so that it has an incredibly delicate, super matte, dull-paper-like finish. It performs very differently than the usual white IKEA finish you are used to on your Billy, Kallax or old Besta. The paper-like finish collects scuffs, scratches and dirt at every turn. Even just removing the IKEA sticker on the door leaves holes in the paper finish of every door. Of course the paper-like finish also makes it unwashable and unwipable. It is truly embarrassing. For a comparison, visit a display room area with an older white Besta unit and then visit the Home Organization customization area for the new version of this unit/doors. IKEA, this was an impractical, undesirable and unsustainable change. Please change it back.1
Finish and quality has changedAngelaThese are no longer made with the same finish and quality that they used to be. It is more matte, less detailed and edges are rough and chipping on all the doors I bought. If you are only replacing one door, you will need to replace them all for them to match. I recommend ordering more than you need because there is a good chance that many of them will have chipped edges on the outside where the laminate was cut. Very unfortunate, the original quality was much nicer and lasted long and now I need to replace them every 6 months. I'm thinking I might just scrap the set and stop buying Ikea because it's no longer cost effective 1
