Finish could be better TracyIt's a fun and also versatile object. A few gripes: the wood could be sanded down a little; and the nail holes could be wider and deeper (the provided nails took a lot of effort to screw in).4
4 starsJoshuaThe joints in the hand are good, it’s tight enough so that hand can hold its form as you shape it. Relatively easy to assemble, however, the screw holes in the wood were too small and I had to drill slightly larger ones for the screws to fit.4

However, the wood surfaces are not fully smooth, some parts you can still see the woods peeled off and that would concern me I am afraid that it might scratch the leather on my headphones. Overall, it looks great, worked well but needed somewhat force to install it and somewhat not well made yet.4

The screws for the base are terribleCordeliaThe screws which attach the base to the hand are terrible quality. It takes a lot of force to drill the screw into the soft wood, but the metal is too soft to stand up to the force from the screwdriver. One of the screws got stripped after barely getting halfway into the wood. I had to replace it with another screw I had lying around, which went in with ease and took no wear. I managed to get in the other stock screw, but in the process it also nearly got stripped, so I'm not sure I'd be able to get it back out. I had multiple bit sizes, so it wasn't a tool issue. If the screws get swapped for better ones, this would be great. Looks good and the finger stiffness was very adequate in my unit, contrary to some reviews.3

Game on!

At IKEA we have experience of life at home, but we’re beginners in the gaming world. That’s why we decided to team up with recognized experts from Republic of Gamers (ROG), to better understand what everyday life is like for devoted PC gamers. It resulted in desks, chairs, storage and accessories that can help more players to more victories.

Ask any gamer and they’ll tell you gaming is more than a fun past-time. It’s a way to wind down and connect with others – for some, even a livelihood. When Sofia Wiktorsson, one of our product developers, started working with our new range for passionate players, she stepped into a completely new universe – the gaming world.

We level up to help more gamers

“We cooperated with ROG the whole time and met both professional and high-performance gamers,” tells Sofia. When she and the team got to pick the brains of the players and watch them in action, it became clearer where IKEA can make a difference. “We saw a need for comfortable and ergonomic chairs and aids for long gaming sessions, stable furniture and accessories that improve the precision, and smart storage for the hardware. But, we also developed solutions that make it easier to eat and drink without spill while playing.”

Democratic gaming

There are several billion gamers in the world, but it’s not a uniform group of people – the diversity is big, with different cultures, ages, educational levels and incomes. “We want to make it possible to adapt the gaming station to your taste and your needs, no matter where you come from, if you live on your own, or together with someone else,” explains Sofia. “The products should fit with all other things people have in their homes. It’s our way to democratise the good gaming experience – for both gamers and the ones that don’t play.”
