Swivel chairCINDYWe live in an old (130 years; uneven floors!) house and I needed to replace my desk chair with on that will NOT follow the floor slant and send me into a corner! This was the perfect answer5
I was looking for aJOANNEI was looking for a comfortable but small chair for my computer. This worked perfectly.5

The best chair of all!EmmaI have tried all IKEA chairs and stools available in 2020 and 2021. This is by far the most comfortable and ergonomic one. I am 5'3, and I think it is also about height. Unlike other IKEA chairs, this one fits me perfectly. I have a sit stand desk, and this chair is perfect when I want to sit. I feel that my lower back is perfectly supported and I can sit on it for hours without feeling any back or bottom pain. Old chairs used to be like that. It is absolutely perfect for me.5

Uneven chair legsming123I bought this chair in April 2020 for daily use. Today(4 months later) I try to tighten the screw to level the legs and it's broken. Now I get an uneven chair that hurts my back if I sit on it for a little bit longer. Sadly I don't have a IKEA near me so I can't return the product.2
A valuable addition to my home officeAli_BexThis chair is suiting my needs perfectly. It is stylish and practical. The seat is a little hard but that was not a big deal. I draped my Toftlund rug over it for a little cushioning.5
Love the look and foot restPigletteTUse this as my desk chair and i love the foot rest - it helps with my posture. But not great for sitting for a long time.4
Mitch0007This was a very difficult installation. The seat is not comfortable at all. The seat just looks nice in your home.2
Kullaberg Swivel ChairYep50We bought this chair a month ago to go with a desk that we bought the same day for the room that our international student is staying in. The chair is stylish and very comfortable. Our student really likes the chair. I would definitely recommend this chair to anyone thinking of purchasing it.5
Sturdy & good looking swivel desk chairanna5387We got two of these desk chairs for our boys. They love them . They look great, are sturdy, easy to assemble and very good value! Definitely recommend this product!5
More comfy than expectedTL from Ottawa ONI bought this chair with the KULLABERG desk. They work perfectly well together (height level, size). This chair as a whole is surprisingly comfy (seat, back support, their shapes, inclinations, sizes, the height of the chair) for a person who is 5.2 110lb like me. This chair actually force me to seat straight at the desk and not bent over/slouch. One bad thing: there are 4 screws on the top of the seat. They are not flushed in at the same level as the seat. In fact, they stick out. When I seat on the chair for more then 1hr, I feel them sticking in my butt. It's a bit annoying and it hurts a bit so I have to put a chair pad. For those who cares: according to the box label, this product was made in China.4
looks goodjastWe bought 2 of these because the price was reasonable and we like that it didn't have wheels. We also liked that it was adjustable but while one seems ok, the other is unusable. The entire seat wobbles and feels completely un-sturdy. My kids don't weight more than 70lbs so I'm not sure how this happened and the screw won't allow us to tighten it. I still like the way it looks and they are fairly comfortable.3
KVVVVBought this for my son's room and love the look! I bought it because it swivels but not on wheels ;)4
Great look but so uncomfortableMLARI bought this a month ago and I regret it. It look really nice but it's so uncomfortable that's not possible to stay on it for too long. I bought a cushion for it and I'm still unable to sit on it for too long. I'm a fit/athletic 200 pounds guy and it hurt my back and my coccxyx near.2

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

”I began designing KULLABERG swivel chair after a recent visit to a Paris flea market. I remembered seeing beautiful, slightly worn furniture there, and wanted to make a rustic work chair inspired by an old-fashioned industrial style and vintage details. At the same time, I wanted to keep the functionality of a modern work chair, so that it’s good to use too. The result is a simple, honest and timeless chair that’s truly comfortable to sit on.”
