If you want to sterilize the bottle with hot water, preheat the bottle first with warm tap water. This prevents the glass from cracking.

Be careful. This lid hooks on everythingJohnSince this is a glass container be aware that the downward hook on the lid hooks into things beside it. Twice now this has caught onto the milk bag holder and almost tipped over. It's glass so if it falls over it will likely break causing a mess or maybe even injury. The other design has a smaller opening but does not have this hooker of a lid, is cheaper and would likely be ok to lay down flat elsewhere. See what you think before you buy. 4

It doesn't seem that strong and I'm afraid it won't hold it's shape for long. Another star off because you can't put hot beverages in it. I bought it to hold my chai tea that I make, enough for 3 days, and I have to wait for it to cool a couple of hours before I can pour it into this carafe.3
