Kallax System - Dowells are a problemJenniferThe shelf system is, aesthetically, great. Assembly would have been a breeze if not for the poor quality of dowells provided. 4 of them cracked and broke during installation and made it nearly impossible to put it together. There were zero spares provided, which was really disappointing, given their fragility. Luckily, i had some spares left from another set of ikea furniture I bought years ago. If not for my pack-rat nature, I wouldn't have had those and wouldn't have been able to complete it. I strongly recommend that you order spares. Ideally, Ikea would revisit this shoddy bit of craftsmanship and provide stronger metal dowells, or at very least provide extras.4
Love my Kallax unit with the 4 leg baseMaryI've been checking the internet for the last few years seeing how people organize their craftrooms. Many crafters use Ikea and especially their Kallax units. It fits perfectly in my craftroom and holds many craft items. It is very sturdy and looks great.5

We purchased the matching pedestal to raise it up off the floor, which in and of itself is genius. It compliments the room exactly as we had hoped it would. Extremely satisfied.5
