Great, flexible optionAaronWe already had the 3 x 4 Kallax in the same colour, but we needed a bit more space. This version is flexible with the drawers (but note that installing the drawers is permanent-ish - you can't switch around where the drawers are or the orientation).

Garbage quality controlVikrantThe shelves were not sitting straight after assembling which resulted in crooked drawers. I had to make new holes in the drawer inserts to counter misalign the drawers so that they would not appear crooked. All this is because of poor manufacturing tolerances. If you don't like to waste your time, money and energy don't buy this garbage.
kallax with drawer insertsDaleDrawer inserts simply did not fit. Once the insert was installed there was a gap between the top drawer and the top of the kallax base unit and it was impossible to put the bottom drawer in. The insert was installed identical to the instructions. Spent time to put one in and more time to take it out. I have pictures demonstrating this so I took the removed one and the unopened one back to Ikea and showed to the assembly reps and they had never seen anything like it. At least I got my money back but was a waste of time with a lot of frustration I could not afford. The base unit is ok but some of the holes were slightly misaligned and it took too much effort to actually get the screws to go in. I would only recommend the base not the inserts.
