Nice idea for a display option but lacks finesseSunilI bought one to try out a Lego display idea for my kallax. I read the reviews, but decided to see for myself. I followed instructions to a T and the end result was far from great. Despite using the tool provided to mark the sides, the door sits misaligned with front edge making it look tacky. Far too much space is wasted at the front, so if you're hoping to utilise the full kallax depth, think again As per other reviews hinges are flimsy and plastic covers don't elevate the look I found that for a display there were far too many gaps everywhere: top, bottom, hinge edges, etc So, dust and dirt can easily get in, even from the back, so not what I was hoping for. The final nail in the coffin was the slam of the door as it closed, at least there should be a damper to prevent this, or how about a soft close hinge?. Needless to say, I packed it back up, ready for return, and I've patched up the holes left in my unit... Shame, that I ruined my unit, I had higher hopes for this.3

Quality Control IssueNirajI had ordered 8 of these online. 6 were fine 2 had smaller holes on the front glass as such couldn’t attach the hinges to the fix this at step 10 of the manual. I also got to know inorder to request for replacement I need to physically go to the store.1
Hinge attachment stripsAngelaThe shelves look nice and I would have given it five stars for appearance and ease of install. But the unit attaching the hinge to the door is plastic on both sides- I was cautious not to over-screw them in but the plastic stripped and the hinges popped out of all the door (four in total). We had construction adhesive so just used that to stick the two plastic pieces together, but if we didn’t have that, the doors would be useless. Ikea, do better. 2
Fit like a glove and contents are protected and can be seen.JanetI am using this Kallax product in my sewing room and I like the back prevents objects from falling in behind cabinet as well as I can see what is in the cubicle without opening the door. 5

Kallax Glass shelf and drawersKinThe installation is not easily fit. The Kallax shelf and drawers don't form a uniform square such that any insert unit will not fit. For the money I spent for the insert units (16 units), I can buy a standard shelf with draws and glass shelf.1

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
