Disappointing and flimsyLouisaI bought two of these. Just installed one. The screws require damaging the actual kallax bookcase leaving you no option to switch up the insert to another space. The insert is flimsy particle board that shifts easily. Cannot keep the door and insert from shifting since I didn’t want to use this screws to screw the insert into the kallax bookcase. I ended up using duct tape instead of the screws.
The insert could have been better designed to slide into the bookcase without having to screw it into the bookcase. Avoid buying this insert, it’s a waste of money.
GarbageYip ShingThe screw mounting mechanism for this insert is much more inferior than the older version (expedit), the insert will get loose within 2 years despite properly fastened and eventually broken off. Avoid
Do not align properlyYvonneI purchased 6 of these(with 6 desks). Once installed they do not align properly and rub against the desk where installed. Not happy with these at all.
Excellent Result, Difficult InstallJohnThe final result was nice but installing the doors was a challenge! Trying to get them to close properly and to match side-by-side was really a pain.
Look TerribleSabrinaits impossible to get these lined up and looking good. They look cheap and misaligned no matter how many adjustments are made. I can't even remove and return them bow because there are holes on the inside of my KALLAX since you have to make your own installing these. Hugely frustrating and disappointing...
Great storageTracyA great way to finish off the cabinet for a more clean look
Door KallaxDwightEasy to install and to finish the look.
impossible to installOrliThis product is ridiculously poorly designed. Don't buy it. In order to install it, one must drill through cardboard to get wood screws into buttery soft particle board. Not built to last, not worth the trouble. IKEA - do better! The entire cube should be strong enough to hold without being drilled into the kallax to allow flexibility in the positioning of drawers, cabinets, display etc. There should be no cardboard involved. Improve the product to make the walls stronger
Easy to installKakuenIt was easy to install and was a perfect fit!
Do better IKEAMeganI wish I had known prior to opening everything that I had to screw this into my shelf and do not have an option for easy change ups. The side opposite the hinges does not lay flush and the door doesn't close all the way.
Poor quality as well, especially for the price!
Functional doors for a gorgeous Kallax unitSheilaThese doors added some sophistication and variety to our Kallax unit as it complemented the drawers and fabric cube inserts. Easy to open, great for books.
Good product but can be a bit tricky to installKatherineGood product for the price, but can be a little tricky to install. The 1st one I bought wouldn't sit square in the Kallax unit. I followed the directions to the letter. Took it back to customer service was was able to return it with no issues. The second one went together better. Had a little bit of issue lining up the door. There were some good You Tube videos that helped. Overall I am happy with end result
A family favorite JoanneA door wherever you want in your Kallax.
Using the insert but without the doors.JeffBought 6 of these. Doors and hinges restrict vinyl records so only using the enclosures. Going to reinforce my Kallax cabinets in the back so probably won’t even use the inserts.
Shoddy workJulietteThe instructions for this are confusing (they imply the dark side - which matches the Kalax itself - should face in, making it look unfinished once you open the door). And it doesn't fit properly - using the provided measuring tool, it has you screw in the cube too far back leaving a 3mm gap at the back. The door is also not wide enough. Expected better of Ikea.
Small design flaw GillianI’ve installed four of these and I like them. But if you’re planning to install them side-by-side opening in opposite directions, you can’t do it with the provided screws. You will need shorter ones so that they don’t interfere with each other. I happened to have the perfect screws so it worked out fine
Kallax Door UnitsBrendaI have 4 of these door units. They are easy to put together - hardest part is hinges, but google how to adjust them and then it’s pretty easy. They look great, I’m very happy with them.
Look great KimberleyI like the doors better than the other options.
Door for Kallax shelf cubeStacyLove the look. Was easy to add to the shelf. Looks like it was meant to have doors
Kallax insertsKimThese are great - easy to install - Look very nice in cabinet

Material
What is fibreboard?
Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
