Ratings and reviews

A little wobbly and tricky to assembleStevenAssembly required a weird hammering portion (which can be tricky if you don't use hammers often) and though the shelf turned out okay, it's quite wobbly standing on its own.3
Extra organizer in the traditional closet with a very long bar to hang clothesIwonaEasy to assemble Looks neat Fits in my closet5
Sturdy unit, easy to build!AnonymousIt a perfect unit for storing all those items that get left on the floor. This unit fit perfectly behind my laundry room door, so when the door is open, whats on the shelf is hidden from view. Went together very easily, didn't take long at all. Another great storage solution from Ikea!5
Good stuffTomeasy to assemble, small and lightweight, which is it's benefit and a weakness5
annoyingAnonymous reviewerLike the other reviews, assembly is annoying and noisy. Purchased anyways due to dimensions being perfect for space. Did not end up finishing it correctly and hope it just stays standing in my laundry room.3
Requires extremely hard hammering AmyYou need to hammer the end parts very hard and it makes a lot of sharp plastic jump off. It’s extremely loud to do so too. I had to create a lot of momentum when hammering The shelf is also pretty wobbly tbh and not very great1
so far so good!DevonI got this worried about the bad reviews on putting together but it was fine. Things I would reco is: read the instructions carefully and seperate the top pieces from bottom - the top have a little nub on them but easy to mix them up as they come packaged together. I also screwed it together fairly lightly at first until all the pieces were in and then tightened - it all lined up nicely in the end but it will be subject to the slant on your floor etc so let it come together bit by bit. I used a rubber hammer instead of a hammer and the plastic protector - I tried both ways but didn't notice a difference. Finally it was def. loud when adding the bars - felt like Thor banging the hammer of thunder. Not sure what to do about that, maybe a blanket thrown on top of the shelves so they don't reverberate? Once complete its pretty sturdy for its size and the shelves hold a lot. I've put this in a closet and am able to store a midsized suitcase and printer + lots of space for more.4
Jonaxel 504.199.72CathyWe bought this shelving unit recently and, only after assembling, as per the included directions booklet, we found that the parts to secure the shelving unit to the wall needed to be put on the frame legs BEFORE you hammer the top bars into the frame leg tops. As part #10003467 is made of hard plastic, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get it onto the frame leg at this point. Both the instruction booklet included and the online directions for this model 504.199.72, only show putting the wall secure mounts on AFTER the whole frame of the unit has been completed (Step 6, page 14), which can't be done. The instruction booklet that is included AND the one online MUST be updated to show that the two wall securing brackets have to be put on the back legs BEFORE you hammer the top/bottom bars (using part #10004342) into the leg frames. We have not yet tried to disconnect the top bars from the leg posts as we are worried that the whole unit will break.1
Skip thisAnonymous reviewerDon't even bother. Go with a Ivar, Bror, even a hyllis zip tied together. This was the worse ripoff of a shelf. Not worth the retail price. The last steps of hammering in the bottom and top cross bars ended up with me getting a noise complaint. Don't get the top and bottom crossbars mixed up. The Bottom ones have hold for the stupid leveler feet.1
PerfectMary-LineI needed a shelf that was not too bulky but still can house many things and this was perfect!5
One of the most useful thing.Devakiit's work very well in my small apartment offer me a more storage space.5
Nice multi purpose shelfRileyThese shelves are great, bought them as an alternative to a dresser as they’re quite cheap. Relatively easy to put together, however some of the threads were pretty tough to get the fasteners in. I ended up breaking the included Allen key because they were so tight. Definitely use your own Allen key when assembling them. They also aren’t that sturdy if you don’t fasten them to the wall.4
shelving unitKathyThis shelving unit is awesome!! It looks great and holds so much. It is very sturdy and a great price! I am so happy that I bought this item!5
Cold Cellar StorageGailPerfect!5
Perfect. Used it in theRosePerfect. Used it in the cool room for dry goods and storage.5
Great light storageAnonymousI bought this a month ago and it looks great and was reasonably priced. It’s not super strong but great for displaying light items.5
Love it.AnonymousBeautiful. Exactly what we were looking for.5
DentsAnonymous reviewerReceived and installed the product today. 3 of the shelves have dents on it, which had made the paint shell of 1 border crack and tear out, revealing the metal inside. A hammer could help to straighten them, but I didn't have one. And I don't know how to fix the cracked paint shell. I hope the metal will not rust easily.3
Serves its purposeAnonymous reviewerBought the large Jonaxel shelving unit a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping it would be fairly sturdy as it is made of steel, however I believe the thinness of it makes it more flimsy. Some shelves are okay to freestand, but this shelf definitely needs to be secured to the wall. The surface layer of some of the shelves on this unit were peeling off, which is disappointing as I’ve never had that issue before with Ikea products. All in all, it serves its purpose for now and looks light and airy which was why I purchased in the first place, however I wouldn’t buy it again in the future.3

Put your closet monster on a diet

Do you know what’s hidden in your closets? Probably some might-fit-me-later-clothes, sports equipment, shoes, umbrellas and stuff that doesn't belong there. But in every closet there’s also valuable space. JONAXEL storage system makes it easier to use it in smarter ways – from the forgotten corners to the void up to the ceiling.

When we want to tidy up at home, it might make sense to throw things into a dark, confined space and then forget about them. But there’s a downside to it. It can transform your closet into a monster. “In the long run it becomes hard to keep track of your belongings, things disappear and you get a clutter that can feel stressful,” says Paul Hughes who’s been involved in developing JONAXEL.

Home visits revealed the truth

To find out how to best help people with issues like this, Paul and his colleagues visited different homes on three continents. They took pictures and bombarded the homeowners with storage-related questions. “We got to see the hard truth, and it wasn’t always pretty,” smiles Paul. “Many have closets with just a shelf and a rail underneath. It’s simple, but not very functional. They stuff the shelf and hang as much as they can on the rail – the rest ends up on the floor.”

Save time and space

It’s quite common that other parts of life get in the way for a clutter-free everyday, either we don’t have the energy, time or interest to fix it. “That’s why we had to come up with a simple solution that’s easy to put together,” says Paul. The smallest JONAXEL unit fits almost anywhere, and you can create more storage by simply stacking units on top of each other. “It’s a system that lets you take control of the spaces you have. Help on the way to a more organised life and a strategy for keeping closet monsters from growing too big.”

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
