I found two of these shades in the As-Is section (customer return, no damage) and decided to take a chance. I am so glad I did! I was looking for a full spherical shade but this was a very similar look and the price was right. Even the full price is very reasonable. I do not like the style of the recommended hardware and cord, so I bought a pendant light kit instead (from a "prime" online retailer, not ikea) and paired it with solid chandelier rods. This really elevated the overall look and you would never guess the total cost per light was around $70! I love IKEA for great style at a very affordable price. Highly recommend this shade! 5

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
