I found two of these shades in the As-Is section (customer return, no damage) and decided to take a chance. I am so glad I did! I was looking for a full spherical shade but this was a very similar look and the price was right. Even the full price is very reasonable. I do not like the style of the recommended hardware and cord, so I bought a pendant light kit instead (from a "prime" online retailer, not ikea) and paired it with solid chandelier rods. This really elevated the overall look and you would never guess the total cost per light was around $70! I love IKEA for great style at a very affordable price. Highly recommend this shade!

Inconsistent thickness for cord setJaimeeWe finally have two shades that fit. We had to exchange them twice because the opening for the cord set was too thick and we couldn’t secure it properly (the set couldn’t thread on). The second time we went back to the store we tried several shades with a cord set until we found one that worked.

Material
What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
