Ratings and reviews
The chair is not for everyoneNikolaI am 5'11 and weigh 185lb, 44 years old and I have back problem. Contrary to what everyone says I really like the lumber support and the firm seat. The chair is not comfortable but this is not the reason I picked it for. I wanted to improve my posture when sitting. The high and narrow back rest does help with moving around and stretching. I only wish the height of the chair could go lower as well as the headrest . Thanks for your time.
Very uncomfortable and painfulStivianMy girlfriend's wooden chair is more comfortable. I have abandoned this chair for the Markus after using it for a year and a half. Had I known the chair would become so uncomfortable over time, I would have never bought it. The seat becomes very, very hard over time, and it feels like you're sitting on a rock. I couldn't recommend it less for casual use, let alone as your chair for a remote job.
Early Days Replacement of 10 Yr Old Markus Leather Office ChairJ.It is very much early days as I needed to replace my very much loved Markus leather office chair that is 10+ years old. So far it's good. What keeps this from being a 5 star review are the following cons:
Armrests are hard plastic. These need to be softer material.
No setting adjustment for tilt tension. Ikea have virtually eliminated these from all their office chairs, which is an unfortunate. This is one setting I always adjust upon purchasing a new office chair.
No proper waterfall lockout adjustment.
Slightly shorter seat cushion. If you have longer thighs you may not be comfortable on this chair.
The pros include:
Adjustable headrest and lumbar.
Sturdy base.
Adjustable arm height and rest distance. Both up and down as well as front to back.
Firm seat cushion. Many would say this is a negative, but I welcome the firmness.
Seat adjustment backward and forward.
Mesh back keeps the back comfortably cool and strung tightly, again for good firmness in seating position.
Worst chair everBarbara AnnThis is a horrible chair. The seat has no shape to it which causes my glutes to go number. The lumbar support is sub-par. Had I known it would be this uncomfortable I would have ever bought it.
Nice ChairAliIt Isa comfortable chair in general but the handles are very shaky and not stable as you expected
Gave me a tailbone pain, seek alternative if you canSamuelI was very excited to purchase this chair to replace an old one that I had been using for some 3.5 years. After only one year using this one though, I have developed a tailbone pain from just sitting on it for regular work hours. The seat cushion will degrade quickly and note I'm not too heavy of a guy (I weight under 180 pounds). It is way too expensive for the quality and the pain it produces!
Disappointing Experience with High-Expectation Office Chair- Missing Tilt Tension Adjustment AbhinavI recently invested in what I believed to be a premium office chair from IKEA, enticed by its appealing design and build, thinking it will be ideal for someone who spends long hours at a desk like myself. Given its high price point, I had high expectations for this chair to deliver unparalleled comfort and ergonomic features.
Regrettably, my experience has been far from satisfactory. The most glaring omission is the lack of tilt tension adjustment—a crucial feature for any high-quality office chair that aims to provide tailored comfort to its user.
I weight of 78 kg & found the seat's foam padding to be excessively hard, failing to offer the comfort I anticipated . This lack of comfort is a significant drawback and detracts from the chair's overall value, especially considering its price.
It's surprising that such fundamental aspects of comfort and adjustability were overlooked in the design of this chair. Regrettably, I find myself in the position of having to return the chair.
its not confy at allBehzadthe seat is very unconfy and hard, I'm going to return it.
Not the bestKassideeHad high hopes, and aesthetically it's very nice! I have a mostly pink and white setup so it goes really well, and the assembly was very easy, but that's about where the positivity ends.
The back is fine, but the lumbar support was very hard until it got broken in. The headrest is somewhat uncomfortable after sitting a while.
The main issue is with the seat. It's extremely hard, and even after over 6 months of use it doesn't feel any different at all. having a chair and needing a seat cover to make it comfortable ruins the whole point. After long sitting sessions I'll have lower back pain that carries over into the next day.
Overall, if you're okay with a firmer seat then go ahead but if you're looking for something very comfortable for longer sessions, whether you're gaming, watching something, etc. probably look elsewhere.
Great value chairMarc-EtienneI was looking for a high-back chair. After reading some reviews, and considering much pricier chairs, I went with the Jarvfjallet. I've had it for a couple months now and I'm very happy.
What I really like:
The firmness of the seat and the supportiveness/adjustability of the lumbar pad. I also find the highback mesh and headrest pad to be very comfortable. For my size/weight (5'10", 180 lbs) the lean back tension is spot on. (Though I can imagine if you're much smaller/bigger you would want adjustability.)
My complaints:
Out of the box, the armrests are way too hard, but that's an easy fix. I ordered $30 armrest pads to velcro onto them, now they're ideal. It's just a shame that IKEA doesn't sell these as an add-on. Also the auto-brake feature on the caster wheels is annoying, so I may eventually switch those out.
Terrible chair, super uncomfortable, way worse than MarkusThomasI've been using a Markus both at home and at the office for many years, and love them. They've been getting a bit worn so I though I'd try this to replace one of them. Seemed decent when I tried it in the store. Brought it home and sat in it and after just one day, it was terrible and I had to return it.
The seat cushion is super short, the ability to move it forward doesn't sufficiently compensate for this so it feels like I'm falling off the front of it. The lumbar support is way too thick/firm and caused me severe back pain in any position. The armrests are extremely hard and uncomfortable. The chair as a whole, when locked in the upright position, feels leaned aggressively forward which boosts the sensation of falling forward from the short cushion; when locked in the next recline position it's way too far back. Never had any of these issues with my Markus chairs.
Not comfortableFahimSeat is hard and small.

Great qualityFrancesPerfect. I am fairly tall , 5ft 11inc and work from home full time. This chair is perfect for me. Great for my posture as well as comfortable. My husband already has it in black and he is 6ft 5inch and ot works great for him as well. Definitely recommend
Very stylish looking. Very comfortable,HuguetteVery stylish looking. Very comfortable, with a few caveats… For my size (long legs), it would have been nice to have one more inclination position of the back rest and one more forward position of the seat. Still, very happy with my purchase.
A MUST Have office ChairAngieSo comfy. Stylish.. perfect for my studies. Ikea does NOT dissapoint.
Good chair and good looking too!!Susanlove the structure and it's look was easy to assemble and also to adjust as needed
Good work ChairSydneyUsing this as a office chair other than for gaming. Good support and adjustability - which is ideal as I have an RSI from desk work, so need to be able to adjust position frequently.
GreatFionaEast to put together, very adjustable.
